Third person for me...The cockpits in caps just don't fit, since they're fighter cockpits. Just doesn't feel right. Also I kinda have a better overview in fights that way.
1st person in a BS since you'll be able to see more.
Otherwise your ship+gunfire fills your screen to much.
3th person in a Cruiser or smaller, since you'll be able to more from the sides and since your turn a lot it's gives you a better overview.
' Wrote:3rd person on all but the libby cruiser (for the fact that this ship is a gun)
3rd person gives you a much wider range of view.
Indeed, also, while turning in a cruiser, you have the chance to keep your target on sight in 3rd person view, while you can't in the 1st person view..
Hmmm.... When I'm in fighters 3d view, though when in caps, I go into 1St only when turning.... But when using a siege cruiser, 1st is the way to go for me, I get better shots off .
I'm switching to 1st person mid-fight if it's necessary to see the target/situation because of the camera placement (Sarissa, GRN cruiser...). But generally I prefer 3rd person too, especially if you can't really tell where the front end of your ship is while in 1st person (Sarissa!!!)

Cruiser and above against other cruisers and above: First Person
Cruiser and above against GBs, fighters, and bombers: Third Person
All others: Thirst Person
I only use first person to take screenshots of scenery. That and the occasional forward gun potshot.
