Technically, robbing people of cargo isn't very profitable and it causes a huge loss in credits for the party being robbed. Cash is better for both parties.
HOWEVER, NPC cargo piracy is good. Pirating NPCs in Galileo can earn me quite a bit during non-peak hours where NPCs spawn more often. Especially since the convoys got updated to include the new transports and the new cargo available.

I agree with the fact it's stupid that traders aren't absolutely terrified of losing their lives.
However. Murder is much more serious a crime, and the penalties much harsher. Realistically too, I have much better equipment, better resources, and automated 100% accurate space lasers that travel at the speed of light and punch a nice clean hole through barghests (nerd)
But no. I don't. So there's an aspect of being decent to people too.
Oh, and I forgot to add the qualifier that I pay as much as a pirate earns through not using presets and being interesting or at least reasonable.

And that's good
Hi, I live in the Australian timezone, and thus normally struggle to find escorts. I also don't have the money for bounties, not that they would help me trading anyhow.

And that's what can get your ID nerfed into oblivion and your rep to be standard hacked to no-docking even if you'd be neutralish with the faction. I'd be very careful... there have already been 2 examples of IDs that did that (pirate goods and sell on lawful bases nearby)... and both were nerfed a lot.

Hi Champ, there are hardly any pirates on during off-peak times. I know that from experience.
I never favoured myself as the lucky one:P
It's been rare I've been able to find someone that's a capable escort, rarer still they've been actively offering. Might be something for me to start offering really.

Technically you have no Idea what are you talking about.
40 m in Ore cargo:
Variant A:
Lone Pirate P takes 10m fine, trader pays.10 mill win for pirate 30 m win for trader
Variant B [M]- Pirate P blasts the trader [M]- Smuggler S sells it- 40m lost for trader 20 m each for pirate and Smuggler.
This is how technically works.
I see Cargo Pirating better for both Parts -it enables trader to RP and hire escorts making piracy harder/impossible or bounty the pirates. There is a lot of interaction and more players involved- it is not like give me monez- np /givecash bye.
