What I am afraid from all of this is that Pirating might actually get a LOT harder. With the sudden threat from capital ships, and the added fact that now dying is NOT cheaper with the 4hour rule in place, traders will start hiring a lot of mercs and freelancers to either deal with the threat or, more commonly, scout for them.
And tbh two mercs in bombers can kill a dessie pirate easier than a VHF.

Mercs don't have cruisers and battleships, and also can't pirate, and aren't pirates.:smile2:
But huge cash earns are going our way so I can't be unhappy about this change. Cashing up for escorting, cashing up for blowing up cruisers and so on on the lanes.

Except for pirates in their hundreds of inRP battleships.
Tis dangerous for us too, mate.
More than ten minutes pass and a mass of unlawfuls gets caught up in the Local Lawful Gankfest Lollapolloza.

Read the rules again. You can start shooting the second they try to escape.
There is NO problem that can`t be solved by the use of high explosives.

You wouldn't have time to do that without a CD.
I mean seriously, relax people and think for 2 seconds.
>Implying all traders are lolwuts who don't RP.
Nothing could be farther from the truth, you obviously have never met me or one of the official faction traders that I've flown with. They RP better than the pirates usually.
Sometimes we don't want to get away, sometimes we want to chat it up a little bit and then either pay, or try to get away.
But with a BS, yes, you are right, ALOT more likely for there to be more silent traders that just Shift+W, due to the fact the BS will just tear them apart and they have no chance.
Re-read the rules - halt is not sufficient, also "You must say more than this to ask a ship to stop however you may destroy them if they attempt escape".
My guess is the Admins will be keeping a keen eye on rules violation reports following this rule-change.
EDIT: No, I didnt mean to imply that ALL traders are like that. I did however mean to imply that MOST are.
