I use that Trade route and it s just about 65mil an hour in a Lrg train
You cant complain about switching to another char if you have it at the panet you have docked at and here is the RP for it.
There are I am trading away when a big nasty pirate comes along and tries to rob me, I run and land on a planet where I know one of my colleagues bases his Battlecruiser. I meet him in a spaceport bar and tell him about the nasty pirate in orbit. he jumps in his ship and heads out to scare em off, after he has done this he comes back and tells me it's all clear.
absolutely NO PROBLEM AT ALL with that.
Now if I was to be robbed in say Sigma 13 and then docked and F1'd to a BS in a different system and came to Sigma 13 and toasted the pirate who robbed my trader then that would be VERY NAUGHTY indeed and against the rules.
Please try to keep up theres a good chap.
and if you only make 65 mil an hour in a large train at Tau31 then u aint concentrating. 100 mil easy in one hour.
each complete run thake less then 40secs if u do it right.
first of all smash, its not allowed to F1 to change your ship even if its docked at same base, and you have a "RP story" tied to it... its been discussed for ages, and to make it clearer this was worked out and its NOT allowed.
second: the run between harris and mcduff takes you 48 secs including dock and undock, this means it CAN be done about 75 times in an hour... with a max profit of 1.35 mil each time you come back at the battleship... which in theory means you can make 101 mil in an hour, if you have constant speed, and no problem whatsoever with speeddock, other traders, pirates, npc's and god knows what else... Believe me ive tried, my longest spand around that route is 4 hours, and in 4 hours i made a max profit of 320 mil. This is without me chatting and in a constant try to be a fast as humanly possible. and do some simple math, 320/4=80 thus a profit of 80 mil an hour should be a good target... but be advised, more would be allmost impossible...
EDIT: As Puck stated below he was way ahead of me and my post... thus it has been told to you more then enough, do it and Puck will fall out of his chair laughing cus you lost 900 mill ((:O sorry guess i missed the link ^^ wont happen again ^^))
"War. War never changes. Since the dawn of human kind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything, from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage."
3pozz... i gave him a link directly to where the rule states you cannot swap no matter what... if he goes and does it now he is just in denial. (and will lose 900 mil)
Ok, i noticed something, a little bit strange. I found out that the best routes are mainly in the border worlds/edge worlds. That's a bit strange, because there is no good route between houses, except the new berlin/new tokyo one. I asked here and there, and never saw a profitable route between new york/new london, for example. So, I am asking now, shouldn't be like in the unmodded freelancer, like for cash you trade between houses, and if you want to obtain lots of cash by missions, you go on the edge worlds? At least the trade routes would be under the eyes of the police and military, and would do pirating more interesting?
It's just an idea, maybe the mod creators will take this into consideration:)
And lets be fair here, concerning trade routes ... Where is the roleplay just going backwards and forwards
between Harris and McDuff, especially as you are empty one way.
That route is a complete cop-out and should have been removed ages ago. No in-system trading should
ever be that profitable. Anyone bragging about how much money they make from that sort of thing, should
be looking hard at their own RP in general ...
Smash, that all just smacks of battleship whoring, especially as you seem to keep one around just so you
can swap to it, illegally I should add, if there is a sniff of a pirate daring to come close.
Bloody sad in my book ...

I don't understand the desire to force RP on this aspect of the game for everyone. If someone despises trading they still need creds to fund their other characters, why do we care if they grind away fast as they can and get back to RPing their preferred characters? A financial grind (even one as mild as Disco's) is always going to turn a segment of the playerbase off; i'm just curious who benefits from Player A being forced to run a low-yield trading route when trading is the last thing he wants to be doing.
Please note I like trading and I run a large circular route for the benefit of RP so I'm not lobbying for my own play style here. I just don't see much to be concerned about when players seek out ways to get past the grind more quickly.

just to clear it up I was refering to the post by FWolf on aug2 which Korrd agreed with. I hadn't seen the later update. here is the full text.
Hmm... I don't like where this is going...
Korrd didn't say all switching is okay. He just said switching to another character who met the criteria he gave is allowed. That being: Ship was on the same base and in the same faction or aligned friendly to the original ship. This certainly doesn't mean a person who just died in battle can go grab another ship and start shooting the guys who killed him.
Granted, in the case X-Lancer outlined, if the battleship launched from Harris and is in the same faction (Same tag, at least) or in a faction friendly to the trader, then I see no problems, according to Korrd's outline. The trader didn't die on his way to the planet, so it was entirely possible he could find his buddy on the surface and send him out to battle. If anything doesn't match up, send the report and screenshots in.
Correct. Fwolf, don't place words on my mouth.
Being an IMG trader, and then docking on a planet and getting a ,for example, Outcast character is not allowed.
Being a trader, and then docking on a planet and getting a char which is not in the same base is not allowed.
The idea is that the pilot left his cargo ship landed, ran through the space dock to a different hangar and took off with a fighter in order to drive the pirate away. Not that the pilot magically teleported (switched chars) from his trader, which also cloaked (F1) and got his pirate and completely-hostile-to-his-trader battleship (which also is 120958235 light years away) in order to kill another [friendly to his new char] pirate. The former is ok, the latter will get you banned.
EDIT:
Now that i think it better, forget about switching chars. No matter if the char is friendly and is on the same base.
If you need protection against pirates, HIRE AN ESCORT.
Switching characters will get you badly fined. (and by badly i mean at least 50% of your credits, and possibly your ship converted into a starflier).

I note from the edit that the rules have been changed and of course I will abide by them as always.
I do wish the rules would remain static though as this was quite legal before aug 2. Unsavoury maybe, morally wrong perhaps but sure as hell not illegal.
I shall take my Battlecruiser back to Liberty space and hunt down Cardamine smugglers with it.
And Hoodlum, I know the name of the game is RP but I have a very limited amount of online time and needed some quick cash, I have it now and have moved on to better and more interesting routes(and no I aint telling you lot where they are neither). I do think the route should be deleted tbh but if it is there then why not take advantage of it occasonally?
