You are right the problem with the F1ing is much more important than people changing money from char to char, i hate people that F1, hopefully now it will be reduced.
A question though if your char stays in space then it should still be possible to do it, i will test later and see if its still doable.
' Wrote:Im all for it. I never F1 in space, combat or no combat, so good on the admins for this one. I would put F1 at number two on my list of most hated offenses.
Not that anyone really cares, but here is my list of top 5 personally hated offenses:
1. Swearing in system chat
2. F1'ing in space during combat
3. Re-engaging
4. Pointless OOC drabble in system chat
5. Completely un-RP ship/id/tag/activity selection
Those are my most hated too... except in a different order

This does present a problem in the case of Maintenance restarts. Suppose someone logs in between the time of the 5 minute warning and the 1 minute warning. If, for some reason, they can't reach a safe docking location, they're stuck in space for longer than it takes for the restart to occur.
Granted, this is a minor issue. Quite frankly, with all the modders and related crashes we've been having lately, I haven't even seen the maintenance periods in quite a while...
Sounds fine by me. Banning is just a poor way and resolves absolutely nothing as honest players can have disconnects as well, administrators including. I think nobody here in their own mind would consider internet connection absolutely stable 100% of all time, bad things can happen to anyone. I've seen people dropping out from server in large packs while few others have remained. There lots of other examples where players are not F1'ing but simply having disconnects over which they have no control at all.
' Wrote:I like the new thing too, but for one like me, who uses F1 just to switch chars without pressure, in space, 2 minutes is an awful waiting time.
Anyway, maybe this will force traders to pay up or hire escorts... It's great anyway
Dock and switch characters, timer doesn't affect it.

Thanks for the tip:)Will do from now on:)
Anyway, in 2 mins you will get killed, or heavy damaged at best, if you do that on purpose, in the middle of the enemy territory hehe

Well that's exactly the point, so better log off on base or in friendly space. :-) No more runs into hostile guard systems with logging out and then jumping in whenever needed.

There's a good point, any runs into hostile terroritory would be just that a hit and run. F1 in hostile space then the NPCs may even have enough time to kill ya. Real-life interrupts would suck though particularly if not near a base.
As for the credit transfer, the trick should still work but it does mean leaving the money exposed for a very long-time. The server won't erase it since your ship is still in the area, but during that minute window an NPC can accidently nuke it or another player can come in and grab it.

Personally I don't do transfers-in-space, I simply log in with my laptop and then meet my character with alt on a different account and do the transfer as if two players would. Very reliable, but I can understand people not having such possibility.
However I think there is a bug with that long timeout period. Today I have logged in space to switch to my other character, F1->select new character... a typical message window pops up to wait. So I sit and wait and wait... approximately one minute after the message window dissappears and I'm thrown into what looks like a menu background (one of those dynamic backdrops). To my surprise I see chat overlay going on, more over I can chat back on a character I was trying to log off with! That was certainly weird. F1 didn't work and I had to close the application.
