' Wrote:However I think there is a bug with that long timeout period. Today I have logged in space to switch to my other character, F1->select new character... a typical message window pops up to wait. So I sit and wait and wait... approximately one minute after the message window dissappears and I'm thrown into what looks like a menu background (one of those dynamic backdrops). To my surprise I see chat overlay going on, more over I can chat back on a character I was trying to log off with! That was certainly weird. F1 didn't work and I had to close the application.
Happened here 3 times in a row.
Maybe reducing the delay to 60 seconds is going to fix it?
I think everyone agrees that this is doing no good. the f1ers are just going to wait until its set back to normal time, and then get right back to their old habits. meanwhile, the rest of us suffer. this is a great way to drive a community away. please change it back and just make the penalties for f1ing more severe.

(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )
Honestly, sir, I've never seen it that much. I think it's simply too much trouble as it is for the ninety-nine percent of us that play by the rules; the other one percent can simply get KOSed by everybody on the server; I think the best solution would be simply to give anyone available license to kill said cheater by whatever means necessary.

Would this then include a list of known cheaters and F1ers poested on the forums? I admit, it would be quite... ehrm... bruttaly efficient, but that would lead to absolute chaos, with players running around each other trying to kill one target and doing a job that is best left to the admins.
Korrd is right on this one methinks.
If this works, the use of F1ing out of a situation will eventually be abandoned as not workth the risk of being blasted to bits during the wait time.
This is the best solution, however inconvenient it may be for us. There is one way to avoid being hooked for 100 seconds... Dock first, dont F1 in space.

ON MY WAY OUT OF RETIREMENT
Personally I'm ok with current flhook timer and I agree with Korrd, also at least it's better than banning people for not having absolutely stable ISP as has been told bot Locke and a thread somewhere nearby. The only real issue at hand is that "chat menu" bug, which, I hope, will be fixed one way or another. There are ways to avoid it.
The only moment I was very annoyed with timer was trying to dock to jumphole on Harbinger (Nomad Battleship) in dense asteroid field, it got stuck two times. Other than that I have no problem.
