Why has the BBC begun prostituting themselves? First The Office, then Top Gear goes to History Channel. Now Skins is going to MTV (shudder), and Being Human to SyFy (bigger shudder).
Oh, and I actually like the pilot of The Cape. Will try some more. Also, Justified is starting back on FX in the next month.
I happen to be one of those guys that hates when we 'americanize' UK shows & the vast majority of the time they all suck to the point of embarasment.
There are occasions though when the US gets lucky.
'The Office' is the only present example I can think of of a UK import that wasn't completely ruined by the US...but way, way back there were three HUGE hits in the 70's that were British imports & were actually good.
"All In The Family" was originally "Till Death Do Us Part" over there
"Sanford & Son" was "Steptoe & Son" & "Three's Company" was called "Man About The House"
Ok, so remember when season 2 of 'Spartacus: Blood & Sand' was canceled because of Andy Whitfield's cancer?
Well, I knew they decided to make the second season w/o Spartacus, but I never noticed until today that it premieres tonight as a prequel called "Spartacus: Gods Of The Arena"
I feel like an idiot:crazy:
Anyway, if you're a fan, enjoy the new episodes...& if you're not, now is the time you can become one
yay sex
yay violence
yay blood
& yay the guts:yahoo:
' Wrote:Can't wait for the next episodes of The Walking Dead.
Must watch season 1 again.
However, the ultimate flaw of all zombie apocalypse movies is this:
Its totally idiotic that all humanity should succumb to those slow-arse zombies, and then a handfull of people stay alive and uninfected for months.
Ima watch it again anyway.
yarr. i just DL'd and watched season 1. quite epic to say the least. looking forward to season 2.
atm im watching the chuck jones collection for tom and jerry series + the 4 season box set series of tom and jerry. original cartoons = best cartoons for tom and jerry. nowadays cartoons dont have that.. oomph as the old ones did tbh.
Beyond the obvious trash of reality shows, dance shows & celebutante circle jerks, There are 3 things I've absolutely hated about TV for years now: Lawyer shows, Doctor shows & Police procedurals.
Lately though, I've discovered 2 exceptions on the lawyer & doctor fronts: Harry's Law & Royal Pains
Both are really fun to watch because they offer something outside the boring, formulaic little mold these type of shows shows go out of their way to fit into.
an old (2004 i think) animated series that was a parody to the reality show boom.
includes 8 messed up cartoon characters like
captain hero - the necrophilliac superhero
princess clara - a racist princess with an octopus-like monster vagina
ling ling - a pikachu parody killing warrior thing
If you are in America & subscribe to Dish Network, you now have access to all the Starz channels for free until this time next year.
I was farting around & tweaking my favorites list & noticed all the Starz channels & the primary Encore channel was unlocked.
Come to find out, Dish Network opened 'em up for everyone as a 30th anniversary 'thank you' gift from Feb 1st 2011 to Feb 1st 2012.
That means access to Spartacus, Torchwood, Camelot & Pillars of the Earth among a few others. Not to mention all the flicks that rotate & rerun. (yes, you can watch stuff like 'Men Who Stare At Goats' about six times a day over seven channels if you really wanted to)
Oh! & I learned that they are developing a series based on the creation of the Pinkerton Agency and I have high hopes for it. If you were into 'Deadwood' you should be beginning to involuntarily salivate right about now:cool:
