Rent the ship as a shell, leave only the basics i.e. No armor, No bots/bats, No weapons, Cheap Shields, Cheap Scanner, Acceptible ID

The user would have to spend a considerable amount of credits outfitting the ship with equipment. Not to mention most of which would be a hassle to transfer.

But it could be an option.

It doesn't take me long to figure out if I like flying the ship or not. Have the renter pay something like 50mil up front just in case they give it back way early.

I dont know loaning a ship like a battleship is not just about flying, its also about combat testing, 50mill for a dread with CAU 8 for example takes huge risk and paying more than that is waste of credits, I think this idea is most good when loaning trade or mining ships for people to make money and for the one loaning it not have to do trade runs or mine all day:P.

new id:

rental agreement.

is an extra equipable id. you must have the appropriate id (say, corsair) and the (corsair) rep,

having this equipped means you can rent the ship at it's re-sell price, i.e. 1/3 of full price (as its pre-owned), but the rental agreement has a time delay on it of one week. after the ship is bought, the id goes 'poof' after a week and your back in a csv.

Or just someone pays (read, bribes) Cannon to write additional movechar command, with a cooldown like in renameme, that allows one ship transfer, but disables /setmovecharcode for it untill it goes back after a (week, two, three?) to it's rightfull owner
