You're really in no position to be complaining that you've been declared hostile to lawful factions once you've been caught and disobeyed.
What happens if you so happen to get FR5'd and yet you did not disobey any local authority?
Here's an example: A Freelancer working for the LPI is lazing around outside of Manhattan. A smuggler comes up to Manhattan with a bay full of Cardimine with the intention to sell it on the planet. Since the Freelancer is not within his rights to demand that the smuggler drop his cargo and submit to a fine (As per ID restrictions), then the Freelancer simply snaps a screenshot of the smuggler's hold, ID and ship type. The LPI then proceeds to FR5 the smuggler, even though the LPI itself did nothing to halt the smuggler.
Also another thought: What if the smuggler complies with local authorities, dropping their cargo/submitting to a fine, and then gets FR5'd anyway? Ever stop to think of that?
Personally, I've never had a smuggler before. Mainly it's because there's an FR5 behind "getting caught" smuggling. Another reason is that it doesn't appear all that more profitable than normal trading.
Let's not steer off topic. This is about boosting the profit of smuggling, not a debate over FR5. My apologies if I talked too much on that.
this would give military players alot more to do aswell..... because of an increase in smuggling. make some smuggling routes that are far more profitable than most lawful trade runs.
cheers
BS. Military has alot to do,they just never do it. Every time i jump on my LSF bomber,or gunboat every second trader i see in Tezas is breaking imbargo. They all run,and all die.Problem is every LNS/RNC is in caps that cannot stop a transport.

If you get caught by smuggling, faction has every right to FR5 you.
This is also BS,and basically goes against rules. You can't/shouln't be FR5'd for RP'n your ID. Any lawful that does is more of a lolwut then a carrier shooting a lvl5 starflee. The admin that does it is even worse IMO.
This is main reason their is no smugglers, and no smuggler faction anymore. You get punished for RP'n your ID.
Just loose the smuggler ID. Who wants to RP an ID that will just get you FR5'd if you RP it?

FR5s are essentially in-RP punishments, so you're getting an in-RP punishment for RPing your ID.
There are soo many groups banning soo many items from soo many systems that all of us are guilty of smuggling during some point in any given one of our routes. Smuggling is profitable because there is no other way of making money by moving something from point A to point B. Besides it's boring to trade with no encounters. Or at least being in a situation where it's a challenge to achieve no encounters.
See. Absolutley no reason to use Smuggler ID. You will get FR5'd. 1st time you are seen with ID they tag you as a smuggler, and every police/military faction will watch chat, and look for you when ever your in system. Just to scan you,and catch you.
Yet all the embargo runners(which is smuggling) never get FR5'd,or punished. I have sent dozens to lawful's. They are not even put on to watch list.
This is why no one will stop for a lawful to scan them when smuggling. 1 time your caught? FR5. You run,and dock with out scan? NP they cannot do crap all.
So all those who yell bad RP not stopping for scan can just bite me. Blame the lawfuls with the rapid fire FR5 button, not the traders/junkers/smugglers.
I'm done. Going in game to kill every lawful trader i see breaking Imbargo's now.

This has been done just last week, and caused a huge uproar in sanction thread. go look it up

I was punished last month for this by an RM. so again it happens.

There is no future to smuggling. FR5's killed it long before prices. People are too afraid they wil waste time and money on a char, just to have it fracked.

Please dont bring your FR5 rant into this thread, if your angry about embargo runners not getting FR5d, file a report on them from your LSF bomber.
This is about the profit of trading vs smuggling/embargo running. (note that running "lawful" cargo past "unlawful" players e.g. bmm gold running past mollys is not considered smuggling for these purposes)
It seems most people agree that due to the increased dangers and hazards of smuggling e.g. geting the RP punishment of getting FR5d, or the increased time of having to avoid lanes; smuggling should pay more.
However there is little to no actual increase in profit from smuggling, I'm not saying smuggling isn't profitable, just that it is not noticeably more profitable, and sometimes less, than trading, and I believe this should change.
It has been said that ore running is more dangerous than smuggling, which is true, in that case; more risk = more reward, I'd like this to be true for smuggling too, when compared to trading.
And as I said, I believe that due to the laws of supply and demand, ore should sell for MOST (there should be other, safer, cheaper routes for the law abiding) in the Houses at war with the suppliers.
