Sorry to disappoint you, but if IC| followed vanilla lore, we would have exactly 0 seconds played ingame. Since all of our roleplay would be on forum : loans, insurances, investments, donation, taxes, cargo exchange at our stations.
But, we want to bend lore a bit. To be in control of not roleplaying indie IC traders that smuggles cardamine and such... Thus we stepped to become official faction, to fill in perspective spot. To take away freedom of indies to do proper trading, to push them around, to be better than them etc.

A few post ago you said that role play only happens in game and stuff on the forum is fluff. Are you know saying that role play on the forums is role play? Or is it still fluff?
You are suggesting the standards be raised to a height that almost no faction can maintain. That is idiotic. You make your suggestions because you feel that role play isn't of good quality. Guess what? Role play is subjective.
I started this way, have ran an unofficial faction on most of the unofficial servers of disco since 83. I tend to attract members in game and through interaction if anything. friendly.. direct like.
Spamming, re listing, verbose messages that hint at a faction or snag attention puking up the place doesn't lead me to think its an improvement.
The idea of these forums catering to the official factions (and those wishing to be so looking for members int hat light) isn't a "diabolical" thing... those who have a problem with this need to read the rules and not act like its a slap int he face when the ignorance bites them in the hind end.
I posted my unofficial fact page awhile ago as a bookmark for officialdom.. As eventually one can hope.
This is all thats needed on these pages. otherwise unofficial factions that mimic and literally copy existing factions are already posting... like..queing.. like waiting in line to copy whats done before.

You can give loans, insurance, investments, donation, taxes, and cargo exchange services all ingame. Forums help for authenticity, of course, but eventually it would be great to see more commands to move these functions ingame, if possible. (Sort of how I offered to help move the Tech system ingame.)
You can bend IC lore. You should. Create something beautiful with it. But play, gentlemen, play Freelancer!

Roleplay on the forums is fluff in the traditional fanfic sense of the word, not intending to connote worthless. Fluff means a backstory that fleshes out and adds vivid colors to what would otherwise be a pretty strong story lacking such vividity. It's pretty damn important to have fluff, but it's also pretty important to let it blossom ingame.
I suggest that the standards be raised to a height that no faction currently maintains. They can maintain it. They just have to try. If the standard changes, it will be maintained, by one faction or another.
Not all players will tribute themselves to play 1 hour per day on one faction's character. What if they are in two factions? That's two hours per day? What if he like three factions and want to be with cool people? Three hours per day? To maintain official status?
I understand your trolling. I trully do. But, do you understand that spending 1 hour per day does not mean one hour of roleplay? Do you at all have more than one or two characters? Do you understand that most of us have other stuff to do?
No need to answer. It's not worth your time. You should be playing game to hit some worthy time for your imaginary character. You should do it 5 hours per day. To show example to us. Of good roleplay.
Could future posts confine themselves to answering the questions:
1.What are the disadvantages associated with relaxing this restriction?
2.What are the advantages associated with relaxing this restriction?

I won't be surprised if I see something like this in the near future
This thread is about reviewing a current restriction. Please read the thread before you post in it.

Or we may be one step closer to bringing the server to total fascism. What standards would you suggest? Please make a new thread for discussion of proposed changes.

Not going to answer 1. or 2. but instead...
Quite simple solution... there's no need to've extra recruitment threads for Unofficial Groups, those can be saved for the Official ones as it's now. Just open up the possibility that people can sort of recruit for their Unofficial Groups via their presentation thread found here.
Allow people to gather other people whom interest they catched via their thread there or PM, and it's alright. No need for extra recruitment threads as the Official factions got, for Unofficial Groups.
You guys sure know how to make your days harder as it's needed. Jeez.
Edit: If those Unofficial Groups took their time to create a topic presenting their group to the community, I can't see any reason why it should not be allowed for them to've people who're interested to apply in the same thread. Same thread that also can be used for Feedback by members of this community.
And honestly, if Official Factions start losing activity or new recruits over Unofficial Groups being allowed to recruit, then something's done wrong on the Official Factions end.
