In other words, we're not going to acknowledge a middle line. We're either going to say it's completely unjust and that all RP stories are good, or that it's completely just and that all RP stories are bad.
How about the obvious: the only "judges" are a group of people outside of the main playerbase who have no intention of delegating or otherwise relinquishing power. And if they get a bunch of bitching, and well put complaints, because of a system they look over, then the convenient solution is to cut the entire system and leave it at that. People who already got their toys will keep them, though, making the system that much more scathing to those who did not.
Very short-sighted. As I learned from a conversation recently, the point of an RPG game is:
[3:06:27] Somni!: I'm not sure how people feel about these things but:
[3:06:46] Somni!: All the RPG's I've played so far make a player stand out from the crowd, be special.
[3:07:30] Somni!: E.G. Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Call of Cthulhu (not as much but still), Pathfinder, Shadowrun, World of Darkness, EVERY pc RPG...
[3:07:44] Somni!: Therefore I cannot grasp why too much special is bad.
[3:08:07] Somni!: People who are not serious about the "special" characters will grow bored of them soon and go back to what they were doing...
[3:08:25] Somni!: Only the ones really wanting such RP should be granted the privilege.
If someone cares to tell me why we keep calling this an RPG server and then nailing it all down with a stupid limitation that turns it into a straightforward simulation game with obvious limits, I'm all ears. Or eyes, for this matter.
Sucks to be a weight on the wrong side of the brilliance-insanity scale.

I completely disagree with you. Generally I see rpgs as games where you take on the role of someone. That person doesn't have to be special, and in most rpgs they arent. If I am playing a rpg where I take on the role of a US navy pilot, I wouldn't be flying a Mig. But if we go by the desire of some in the community, we would have almost every US Navy pilot flying Migs, either cause they are better in combat, or cause people want to be special. Either way, it's not very realistic.
Since when was realism ever a factor. Since when was canon held to faithfully.
You can't use the stupid examples as a means of decrying it. You can't use "realism" to shoot down what amounts to a game played above all for fun, not out of obligation. You can't use admin workload to explain away something the admins should have delegated to a lower authority, but are clearly averse to doing. You can't use the threat of "popularity circle jerk" to explain away a circle jerk that already exists in the form of every person who still uses SRP equipment, and sometimes uses it very well, only proving the benefits of the idea.
Having the system cut out completely is no different than responding to a burning building by demolishing it.

I guess we are just going to have to agree to disagree on this one.
[color=#FFFFFF]Look, Zelot, I'm not saying everyone and his mother should have Order Threshers with Outcast guns, but I feel that completely removing SRP with only minimal cases (people who use the SRP characters they once loved and cherished so rarely, they're subject to inactivity wipes) is a move you're willing to do to avoid having to do exactly what Vogel said, delegating SRP to a team of people who would decide on the fate via council type ruling.
a) An idea would be creating a council of faction leaders, and the process the following:
1. Bob makes SRP request asking for a... say... Junker ID'd and IFF'd say... Claymore gunship.
2. Me, as the leader of the faction responsible for giving out Claymores would have to read the whole story and decide whether it's good or bad. (This is easily exploitable by not reading the story and declining, however open to ideas)
3. The other leaders then hear the nutshell of the story and decide its viability and either say yay or nay.
4. Democratically, the votes are counted, and if SRP passes, the admins are informed that Bob can get this ship with this ID.
b) Make tech chart completely white and green except for some things that have ZERO chance of happening (Outcast Titan, Corsair Sabre, Outcast Nyx, IMG Sabre)
Thoughts?

' Wrote:[font=Agency][color=#FFFFFF]Meaning, choice b) or care to elaborate?
No, not meaning choice B, I mean puretech. Everyone uses their own stuff, you don't like your factions stuff, use civi tech. It makes it all much simpler.
I want to be a pirate, but using a cruiser.
I want to be a KNF, but not using KNF tech or behaving like KNF.
I want to be a corsair fighting for rheinland against liberty on a templar captured from BAF filled with outcast guns while deliverying gold Ore from dublin to New York.
In RPG terms:
I want to be a magician dwarf, half elv half samurai, fighting against corruption with a sword, a shield and a bazooka, wearing a pretty princess dress.
But I don't want to be either of those.
The game has limits, instead of trying to get beyond them, try to enjoy them.
