OORP base shooting exsist because bases have no IFFs /IDs, they are not clearly regulated by rules and because everyone and his dog can build a base and dock ships that belong to factions that are in war with each other without problem on it. If the bases were official faction only this wont be possible-so tons of coding and time is spared.
In-RP Liberty bases should be registered under Liberty law- since Kepler is independent system and admins allows Liberty to lay claims on it and base was not registered I see no reason why Liberty forces should not shoot it- with shield or without.
OORP hate exist only because some stuff is not balanced and regulated properly- people tent to get angry if you nerf their guns with 14%(corsairs) or if they does not have decent vhf(mollys junkers etc) or if enemy files OP ships(nyx, katana,SCRA ships RM snubs etc.) or if you cannot use lines as unlawful(gallia and the nice weapon platforms there)
90% of the OORP hate is balance team fault, rest 10% is just bad players who are somehow too much into the game.
It is really not nice if you know that you can beat player A 10 of 10 times in conn if both fly eagles and get smashed by his OP ship later.

because making a player base is waste of REAL life time. you wouldnt be happy to see your your base gone. not because of cash you spent. but time you waste. you made base, supplied it, waste'd about week on it and some folks blew it. even if it was clearly inRP you wouldnt be happy because of it, right?
one thing is die in PvP, but loose a base is much different thing
' Wrote:I'm serious, official factions have way too much already, THAT is just ridiculous.
If you want to see something ridiculous- see the examples in my previous post on the page 7.

I lost a station that I supplied for 8 hours straight. I was frustrated, but that is all. I logged off, had a meal and went to sleep. Next day I had forgotten my endeavour.

8 hours not that much. its not a 48 or 24 hours. not even 12 hours. but this still time.
and of cource Im not telling to rage and flame on forums. when I lost mine base I owned for 1.5 mounths I was very sad. maybe about 2 hours. just tired and sad. not flames, no insults, no flood. just few msgs on skype to my friends who had plans on that base.
I see base building as buying a really expensive Battleship. Really expensive. Players can be killed in game. The moment they launch they can be attacked and killed. Mine for hours and loose it all in 30 seconds. Travel for 40 minutes, die, and start all over from the beginning. The moment one takes an effort to make a player base, I feel it falls under the same jurisdiction. People choose to make a base, choose to have it in a location that will attract the least / most attention. The risk for destruction is there. If people hate you, you're base is nothing more than a ship waiting to be ganked.
When Krupp died, it pretty much took Rheinland with it. I can only imagine what the loss of an Indy player's base does to a person or people when it's lost.
I thought player bases were going to be fixed bases you pay the Devs tons of money for, they approve it and there it is. The amount of effort placed into a player base is staggering. If you generate hate/rage with ever action you take, the base's days are numbered. Once a base is established, there needs to be a full powered effort to take it out. If the player base, for the angry faction who wants that base to die, outweighs you 4 to 1, I don't know if there is anyway to stop it from being destroyed.
I'll never build a base.
Sometimes, when all you want is to gain your freedom, you must be willing to risk it all.
