The problem lies in how the repair materials are tied in with the sieging process of a base currently. (Of course I already put forth an idea that would change that completly, but people didn't like it, so meh.) ... Because of the bases mostly only dying because they actually do run out of repairs, reducing the amount a base needs per day would make them evern "more invincible", as people like to put it.
I'm all for reducing the amount of attention a base needs, as long as bases get regulated more (->SRP).
From my experience the grind for bases was pretty much "the final nail" for a lot of people who then subsequently left disco - and who then just stuck to Skype(/Forum) rambling - over time.
