Well keep in mind that Freelancer is a video game, and it started out mainly as a single player game with an OK multiplayer mode. The Disco mods expanded upon the original version in many great ways. The thing is, most players seek the game for gaming experience, not roleplay. I never roleplayed until I came here. It is fun, but its also something you fit into to keep the ball rolling. The way the game is laid out, RP makes sense, else there's a lack of respect to the environment it tries to recreate. But roleplay should be seen as a way to play the game so that it makes sense with continuity, not as the purpose of playing. So I see roleplay as a practical way to enjoy playing and getting into it. If you only play to roleplay, and can't get satisfaction because some people want good gaming experience over RP (but rp so as not to completely ditch the spirit of things) then I believe Dungeons and Dragons still exists for you. When you think of it like that, just remember roleplay is based around the game, not the other way around, cuz otherwise its just a bunch of people sitting around on computers making stuff up.
