People run because they don't like to die, in and out of RP.
Why's that such a difficult concept to grasp?
I guess he is asking because people me inclusive act as douchebags in the process using all possible dirty tricks.
For me personally the trill of PvP is long gone with the current latency problem that the server have. So I end up dieing a lot more to the people that I should have fair chance against, as result I prefer to dock in safety. It is not fun to die each time by your own mines due to server lag.
Also with the last two versions balance/rule fails the PvP is kinda dumped down, I am so much not gonna give blue msg to someone that is bot fed constantly by others that get in and out of the fight or the ones that bring repair ships in snub fights or the ones that go to shoot NPCs and shield run to get extra bots etc.
When the people died rule-wise when starting cruise engines we had no bot feeding and fun fights. Same story was with the 10k rule. So they were dead anyway and fought to the end.
The mentality of the player was different then- even if it was from hard to impossible to prove it both the cruise engines and 10k rule worked because the players had more respect to each other. I personally cannot have respect to players that play to win, gank to the point where the receiving side have 0 chance to win regardless of skill, use all dirty possible tricks and so on, so I play by their rules doing the same.
How you can explain for example big fights that happened lets say many times per week with 40-50 players involved in the same fight with the cruise rule and then with the 10k rule? In both cases it is extremely difficult to track who would cruise away to take more bots or would get at 11k at some point. Such lets say Corsair-Outcast battles happened everyday and yet none raged, none reported people so often or kept his video recording program on all the time and there were huge amount of blue msgs. Also there were a lot more exploits- no msg if one F1 or if one docks, Sabre and Krakens were extremly OP, Titan without wings had its 2/3 of its firing power while unhittiable, eagles without fins turned faster then light fighters, bombers used full deb and double razor loadouts etc etc etc.. Players back then had a lot better more friendly attitude towards each other.
Note that there is huge difference between bot sharing and bot feeding, bot sharing is good strategic thing even if the caps share with the snubs as long as they all stay in the fight till the end with the amount of bots that they entered the fight. In this situation both sides have some HP Pool, so the more skilled side drains the enemy HP Pool and eventually wins. How the sides would distribute their HP Pool is up to them, increasing the Pool is the real huge problem that is killing PvP. Bot feeding and bot waterboys.
In general blame the lag and the stupid rules.
