The current economy does not represent the current sever reality. We have average 50 people on-line and theoretically each one of them can pick different trade route and with a bit planning move in a way that he would never encounter other player at all.
Create several hotspots that can create activity, one or two per house.
In a word: no. What I always enjoyed the most about piracy was hunting. Camping bored me to death.
In any case, what you suggest makes little or no practical difference. If you are transporting Gold from Bretonia to Liberty, it makes no difference whether your destination is in New York, Colorado, Texas, Ontario, Alberta or California. In all cases you are going to pass through California. There's your "hotspot".
The same is true for Kusari/Liberty trade: Shikoku and Colorado regardless of destination.
Bretonia/Rheinland : Omega 3, Omega 7, Stuttgart, Cambridge all in a line.
Kusari/Rheinland : Frankfurt, Sigma 13, Honshu
Bretonia/Kusari : Tau 31, Tau 23, Kyushu.
Gallia/Sirius : Languedoc, Lyonnais
Rheinland/Liberty : Hamburg, Texas
Removing every trade route in the mod except for one going from each capital system to every other capital system would drastically reduce the number of trade routes, but it wouldn't change the basic travel paths for trade at all.
