The silence was almost unnerving and for the shortest of moments she was concerned she had said the wrong thing. His reaction was not what she had expected. Nothing she had said before has had that effect on anyone.
When he put his hand on her shoulder, she couldn't help but smile. She had become comfortable with his touch and unlike on Foster, she didn't want him to move his hand away. Resting her hand on his she interlocked her fingers with his, giving his hand a gentle, yet reassuring squeeze. Making eye contact for a moment, she spoke again "You have a heart of gold, John.
