I can blame myself in fact for all that. But with with all the machinations with leadership change - it was planned way back while I have thought about the faction.
In fact, I needed to think up the reason for using bigger transports and reason why KTA would even join Samura. But nah, that was silly back then.
We are not talking, in fact, about players. I was more thinking about in-lore situation that Samura would likely try to get rid of so-called Kyushu-Tomioka Alliance and use their goons from Farmers Alliance. I mean, why a freelance traders could take profit from something that does not even belong to them - as it belongs to Samura and to the Farmers Alliance (as far as I am concerned, in practice Planet Kyushu and Planet Tomioka are well-lobbed by latter). I think that both Freelancer ID and Pirate ID should be threaten identically, if it comes to, from little concern to hate, from the bigger bodies.
However, I have roleplayed (or rather backgrounded) death of the first leader, what shifted everything from being free to join Samura for protection. The second leader snapped after some time, because - unlike his father - he wasn't stable emotionally. Make it double, because of death of his father and that feeling of being compared to the former head is not something that influenced leadership in a positive way. Jinpachi Saika is the latest head now, because he had enough charisma to bring relative peace to the company shattered by original leader's death.
Oh, and I almost forgot - the very likely reason for KTA to join Samura was money. Samura has it. A lot of it. I always thought about something like this: "Why not to have some more guys to do money for us and if something bad happens, blame that on them?" That blame thing is now on use, because KTA is desperate enough to proove their innocence in some matters. As we can see now, Jinpachi couldn't foresee that someone would be using KTA name, denounce it and pirate on Liberty? KTA has introduced a temporal embargo - as a protest towards Liberty Navy, because of KTA connections with Rheinland - and someone could use it as a reason to denounce them. But who then? LSF? Perhaps. Samura? Maybe.
To be honest, a bit off the topic, calling them all them "leaders" or "heads" is kinda wrong, because it is more a figure than a practical leader. Think about someone like a PR guy who presents everything on the plate. Don't forget that KTA are just buch of guys who must gain somekind of consensuss in "what to do?" .
My goal was to create minor but rather powerful faction, which started from small thing into something more stable, is a bit different than Samura. But affiliation with Samura will be, after some time, just temporal. If we roleplay everything right and straight up some things, having some cash as well, perhaps it would be, one day, with bigger number of players, SRP-ed.
Believe or not, I was about to disband KTA.
And about ID thing. According to the ID, Samura-affiliated pilot CAN fulfil their pirate duties, but is not forced to do so. We are forgetting the fact that Samura is keiretsu, so it is not one big company but dozens, if not hundreds, of subcompanies. I bet there are people who dislike idea of open piracy outside Kusari borders, but cannot speak of it loudly. As I said before, from LORE point of view, if KTA was free trade company, Samura would either assimilate them, threat them into subjugation or even kick them away from Kusari, using Farmers Alliance.
tl;dr about ID: Every square is a rectangle - but not every rectangle is a square.
