No thanks, I don't want to fly cruisers in New York while pushing a project that makes very little sense. Moreover, why would the official faction want a member that dislikes the direction they are taking things in? It would seem silly that I have to be burdened by them, and them by me. Why not just have freedom to do our own thing instead? I think it would be better for all parties with a non-gimped indie ID.
I just want to roleplay a simple Coalition fighter pilot instead, but the ID is too limited to let me and others in the same position do that; and the official faction that does have a proper ID doesn't play it anymore, except when deploying capital ships on the other side of the galaxy.
I think that is more than enough reason to make a proper indie ID. Better for the mod, better for players, and better for the SCRA. This mod suffered a lot from official factions idling on their assets and cutting other players off from playing their niches.
tl;dr: So far nobody's presented a rational argument as to why not open the indie ID a little. Shouts of abuse and impending doom isn't really rational when you look at what other ID's allow. There might be good reasons why it's a bad idea to open the ID, who knows.
