PERSONAL HISTORY:
Little is known of the origins of the Sius family, but records within the Primary Fleet indicate that his father, Captain Ray Sius, was a well-known officer within the Secondary Fleet. His mother; however, was not identified. Medical records inside the Metropolitan Hospital were partially destroyed by an accidental fire. It is presumed that the marriage between Ray Sius and his wife was a strained one. According testimonial reports from the medical staff that helped Remus' mother, she died giving birth to twins. One died and another lived. Ray Sius decided to name the surviving baby, Remus.
Ray Sius was not able to raise the child but instead put him under the care of his good friend, John Allen. John had been a close friend of Ray, they were like brothers. John Allen, at that time, was working as a chief engineer onboard Norfolk Shipyard. It was under the care of John that Remus learned of his expertise in ship mechanics at such a young age.
As it happens, just prior to the start of the Nomad War, Remus was enrolled into Officer Cadet School at West Point Academy. Not greater than two months had passed before Remus was pulled out of West Point by his father. Ray Sius heard of the attack on the Donau and believed that Liberty was in great danger. The knowledge of Nomads; however, was unknown to him at that time. He merely cared for the safety of his only child.
Remus joined the first set of refugees from Liberty. The transport eventually headed for the House of Bretonia. Remus was able to secure a job working as part of an engineering crew at Southampton shipyard with the help of John Allen. It was here that Remus would meet a certain aspiring Bretonian officer by the name of William Draper. Due to the high degree of infection within the Liberty Navy, the Naval Department listed Remus' father as KIA. This was of course an attempted cover up by the Nomads, as Ray Sius eventually learned of the Nomad threat and joined the Order.
By the time the war ended, Remus returned to Liberty to investigate the death of his father. In order to do so, he had to continue his studies at West Point. Eventually in 804 A.S, he graduated with a commission onboard a new Defiant class gunship christened LNS Douglas. The Douglas was assigned to the then Texan Armada, 6th Naval Fleet, commanded by a certain Commodore Chester H. Walker. After a year into service, the Douglas was disabled in an engagement against pirates. Unknown to him at that time, the pirates weren't ordinary pirates. They were Outcasts dealing in the lucrative trade of Cardamine. Heavily armed and better trained than your usual pirates, the Douglas found herself into a dangerous situation. A passing Navy patrol caught wind of the engagement and assisted the Douglas; but a damaging shot to her engines rendered her immovable. Remus was able to escape unscathed, he would find himself to cheat death several times.
Budget cuts within the Navy particularly regarding the Defiant class gunships forced Remus to decommission the Douglas, he subsequently re-entered West Point Academy, this time; however, as a capital ship instructor. His prior work in the shipyards of Norfolk and Southampton served him well at this time, training crews on how to perform field repairs, maintain the ships in working order and conserve manpower onboard the ships with the use of automated systems.
During all this, he spent his free time investigating the death of his father. His search led him nowhere as the cover-up by infected personnel of the Liberty Navy was very extensive that the Navy's records were riddled with falsified information, making it hard to determine the authenticity of documents. He spent years trying to find it... each promising evidence turning out to be a dead end. This frantic search lead to his obsession with Nomads.
In 817 A. S, Liberty declared war on Rheinland. This prompted the subsequent recommission of Remus into a newly designed Archer class Siege Cruiser that was also christened the Manila Bay. During his time onboard the Siege Cruiser, he went on numerous battles with the Rheinland Military.
In an engagement with the infamous Scylla class destroyer, Maelstrom, the Manila Bay was heavily damaged. Miraculously, Remus and his crew were able to successfully board their escape pods and escape. It seemed that the captain of this destroyer spared his life. The captain of the Maelstrom would later be identified as an infamous Junker named Evangeline McDowell, his would be kidnapper.
The Manila Bay was repaired hastily and subsequently attached to 23rd Squadron, 6th Naval Fleet "Texan Armada". An assignment given to the 23rd Squadron was to conduct a surprise raid on Vierlande Prison were several pilots and officers of the 6th Naval fleet were being held. The operation was deemed highly dangerous. While the Manila Bay was spearheading the raid, a skirmish was being conducted by elements of the 6th Naval Fleet off of Planet Hamburg to distract the Rheinland forces. The raid was successful but it wasn't without losses. 23rd Squadron suffered sixty to seventy percent losses, the Manila Bay was also lost in the fight. The Manila Bay and her escorts fended off responding Rheinwehr pilots. With the enemy capital ships closing in very fast, the XO of the Manila Bay forced most of her crew to escape. Remus Sius was stubborn enough and insisted on staying, but when the XO revealed himself to be his father, he was left speechless and was forced into the escape pod. Remus was to escape death again, this time thanks to his long lost father... who had disguised himself as his XO onboard the Manila Bay. Ray Sius then took the Manila Bay straight towards Planet Hamburg. Leaked media coverage that day, June 10 of 817 A.S., on Planet Hamburg revealed a Navy Siege Cruiser burning up on the planet's upper atmosphere.
Remus and most of his crew were transferred to one of an escort pilot's hold. This pilot was Tharog Frosthearth, who became Remus' close friend. Having just lost his father, Tharog helped Remus cope with the loss. His superiors gave Remus a month's leave of absence. Remus returned however merely two weeks after his leave of absence, a fit of rage grew about him. He swore vengeance against the Rheinland Military. He requested assignment to a small Interdictor class battlecruiser that was interestingly named Douglas, the name was given to the new Assault Battlecruiser during the decommission of the gunship also named Douglas. Remus Sius fought hard joining in every major engagement against the Rheinland military. During one of the engagements, Remus unknowingly struck down a capital ship crewed by young men and women. Most of them didn't make it to the escape pods. The ship broke in half, releasing some of their bodies. They slowly drifted towards the Douglas were Remus saw their frozen faces. Terrified, young individuals who were merely fighting in defense of their House. It almost looked like they were statues. The experience scarred Remus, so much so that it changed him.
After serving for almost half a year, in November of 817 A.S., Remus Sius requested a transfer to the Primary Fleet, then headed by Fleet Admiral David Hale. This was an attempt to get away from all the fighting that happened on the Rheinland front. As much as possible, he requested to be relegated to desk work. Remus Sius as a fighter pilot wasn't sub par neither was it extra-ordinary. He became reluctant to open fire so much that he resorted to coercing criminals into surrendering and/or giving up. Remus quickly rose through the first two ranks, being promoted the same month into Ensign and the next month into Sub-Lieutenant.
Two days before the New Year, Remus Sius was unexpectedly kidnapped by Evangeline McDowell during one engagement with pirates in the vicinity of the New York Jump Gate in the California star system. He spent the New Year being held captive. Remarkably Remus was not tortured during his time and psychiatric and physical evaluation after his capture was found to be normal; although, Remus noted that he was "mentally tortured" by being forced to watch two girls having sexual encounters. Only after personal negotiation by Fleet Admiral Hale that Remus was released.
Major restructuring within the Navy lead to his promotion to Lieutenant Commander in May of 818 A.S. He subsequently put forth a requisition to rebuilt his old gunship. The hull of this new Shredder class Defiant was christened the MacArthur. She was the first of her kind, assigned as a heavy cargo interceptor but found use as a support vessel to larger capital ships. The MacArthur still lives up to her name participating in many engagements still today.
It was August 8th, 819 A.S. when Remus suffered a heart attack during a patrol. Luckily for him, Commanders Jorza Clark and Jane Hartman were flying with him, if it weren't for them Remus might've lost his life. He was immediately admitted at Fort Bragg Medical Center were the best doctors worked furiously for hours replacing his organic heart with an artificial one. It was a success but Remus resigned himself to desk jobs until full recovery.
May of 820 A.S. saw his promotion to Commander. Previous experiences in capital ship combat rendered him as a suitable candidate whereby the Admiralty decided to promote him to Captaincy by the end of the month. He was charged with the overall re-organization of the entire capital ship arsenal of the Navy. With the creation of the Liberty Naval Warships Coordination Office, there was a noticeable improvement in the conduct and performance of Navy Warship Captains.
May of 821 A.S., another major restructuring within the First Fleet led to his eventual promotion to Admiral serving alongside his close friend and colleague, Rohj Teerin. Together they issued several major reforms which changed the Navy as a whole that led to a resurgence of new applicants.
Sometime in December of 821 A.S., the radiation that affected Remus' heart lingered in his body and eventually spread to his brain. He fell into a coma for approximately 3 months before fully recovering, medical doctors were baffled at his recovery. He was transferred to the Reserve Fleets in order to observe his condition specifically to Richmond Military Academy were he trained new capital warship commanders. Other duties regarding this time was to be a military adviser of the Rheinland front, were it had mostly degraded into a stalemate after stubborn resistance from the Rheinland Military which led to the failed recovery of a module of the Munster Research Facility.
Late in May of 822 A.S., Remus made a request to be returned to active duty. Overall, Remus has served under Five Fleet Admirals. His loyalty and dedication to the Liberty Navy remains unquestionable, unfaltering and ever vigilant. He still continues to fight for what he believes is right. Commented by his superiors to be naturally good and a pleasant individual, Remus is a prime example of the virtues that the Liberty Navy seeks to emanate to the public.
A humble officer with a simple goal in mind: "Libertatem Iustita omnibus"
