We can try to remain quiet and to not provoke them. We can try to not open fire first but only in case of self defense when our shields are down. Also keeping distance seems a good idea.
Regarding the infected, I agree we should save them if we can. However, actually we are pretty ignorant about the contamination process. I think we need to gather more information to detect and if possible cure nomad contamination. Also, we must be careful to become contaminated.
