Background check on Giancarlo Mancini
Giancarlo was born to Laura Mancini. Laura was an exotic dancer in Freeport 10 at the time she conceived the child of an unknown father. She was kicked out of her job as her pregnancy became apparent. After a dramatic reunion, she was accepted back at her parents' home in Malta. She would spend the rest of her pregnancy there. She gave birth to a boy who was later baptized Giancarlo Mancini by her Parents. Laura spent the first days of convalescence with them, but as she regained her strength she left never to be heard of again, leaving her child behind.
Giancarlo was raised in Malta by his grandparents, Patrizio and Albertina Mancini. The boy's upbringing wasn't a regular one. His teachers described him as "a slow one". Considering his story, medics attributed the child's problems at school to poor nutrition at the early stages of his childhood.
At the age of eight, Giancarlo met Roberto Costa. A school teacher that would become his personal tutor. Roberto had lived in Kusari, where he served as a liason between our forces and the unaligned groups there. His work gained him the trust and respect of some of the most important people inside these groups. Blood Dragon most respected Sensei at the time, Senjio Nakamura, took him as Uchi Deshi (internal student) in recognition to his services to the Kusarians. Roberto was then exposed to elements of the Kusarian culture normally kept from outsiders. He was taught ancient arts of combat, matters of the body and the spirit, their cerimonials and philosophy.
Dedication and duty time granted Roberto retirement back in Malta. The former agent became a school teacher. There he met Giancarlo who was neglected by the rest of the teachers due to learning problems. Roberto took the boy as his personal student and passed on to him, amongst other things, the knowledge he acquired in Kusari.

Personal presentation letter
...and I'll finish this presentation letter with words which were presented me by someone who was a teacher and a friend:
"There's a time for everything for everyone. Don't compare yourself to others. Strive to be today something better than what you were yesterday and your powers will be limitless."

1) Why the 101st Outcast Guard?
When I first joined Discovery last year, hit the forums and went about looking around for the factions, the 101st was the very first that got my attention. I considered applying for it then, but then I learned it was invite only and let it go.
After playing here for some time, being invited to join struck me as a nice thing. That original idea of joining never really left me and from time to time I'd think about talking to Morgan about it, but I'm the kind of guy that sees "invite only" and will hope for an invitation rather than ask for one.
As to why... Eversince I started playing FL again here in Discovery, I developed a vicious, quite irrational dislike of the Corsairs. As my experiences fueled this disfavour of the Cretans, I grew fonder of the Maltese.
2) What are two things that you enjoy doing in real-life besides playing freelancer?
Practicing and instructing Aikido, and reading.
3) What would the last sentence of your autobiography be?
It was that original question; which served as basis for a mindset that accompanied him throughout his life, and that has oddly hindered him in even the most trite occasions; that ultimately granted him a holistic comprehension of himself and, in fact, of the meaning of life.
4) If you could be a fictional character (from a film, book, comic, etc...), who would it be, and why?
Mitth'raw'nuruodo, more commonly known as Grand Admiral Thrawn. Thrawn is a fictional character from the Star Wars Galaxy which first appeared in Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy.
This character is something of an gem inside the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Grand Admiral Thrawn was a genius strategist, but that isn't enough to describe him. Thrawn was a true warrior and a pragmatic (as opposed to an idealist), even though his methods may have seemed too intricate for his subordinates to fully wrap their minds around. Thrawn had no problems withdrawing from a battle he could not win so he would avoid unnecessary waste of troops and hardware and adjust his plans. He wasn't driven by egoism and pride, and would accept valid ideas even if they weren't his own.
I admire Thrawns sense of objectiveness and his unconcern for personal glory. Those, as I understand, were the key aspects of his successful command.
