She was in her undergarments as she prepared to go to the meeting. This was probably the biggest meeting she would have to date so she wanted to look nice yet professional. What color? Red seemed to be popular and it was her favorite color to dress in but she had a full wardrobe to choose from. She found a nice, green evening gown that she hadn't worn in awhile. In fact, she couldn't remember when she did last wear it. Before slipping into it, she gave a shot of light perfume (nothing too strong) to her upper chest and then put on the chain and pendant her father had given her. Then, she slipped into the dress and put on a pair of heals. She then let her hair flow down and put on a bracelet of silver....a gift from an old friend. Looking in the mirror, she smiled and said to the person in front of her, "Girl, you got this!"
Benjen was easy. A clean pair of slacks and a nice shirt.
"I don't have to wear a tie, do I Mom?" he asked.
"No," she chuckled, "you don't. Ready?" He just nodded and they headed for the door, a small brief case in her hand.
They admired the trees as they walked. Never had either of them seen them before. There was a lot of pointing up and shouts of excitement. It was hot and humid but that didn't seem to bother them at the moment. Walking the sidewalk to the given address, they soaked in their environment and she was taking mental pictures of her surroundings. She also noticed something, she could walk down a busy street and she felt safe doing it. Houston crime was a common place.
She then saw the sign, "Eurybia Theater." "This is the place, Sweety," she said to Benjen as she entered the door. There, she found an usher.
"Excuse me, Sir, but I am Dr. Doreen Naggar. I'm supposed to have a meeting here with...."
"Say no more, Miss," he interrupted, "I've been instructed to escort you and your son. Just one second. Please, wait."
She stood and waited.
"My apologies, Miss, this way," he continued after giving another patron directions. He escorted her and the child to the table.
