I started what was supposed to be a scout mission into Kusari from Bruchsal. From there, I discovered that Fulda Border Station is once again operational, as well as the Sigma-13 Jump Gate. However, DSE is still there, helping with Trade Lane repair. Nothing has changed in Sigma-13, surprisingly, as a result of this.
Upon arriving at the Osaka Wreck in Honshu, I discovered evidence of the Kusari Naval Forces building their military. The Battleship Hyono, a new battleship, has been deployed there, and it is sending strike teams into Sigma-19 and Sigma-21. In New Tokyo, I found the Battleship Nagasaki moored at Roppongi Station. Either the Kusari people feel safer with a nightmarish warship in orbit, or the military has consolidated more power in their society.
I had to go to Ames Research Station in Kepler to meet with Klaus Hoff. There he told me of a new, uncharted system, and told me that it's entrance was in Shikoku. I returned to Kusari, and found the Jump Hole on the far side of the Saiun Cloud, in Sector 3C. I explained to the KNI ship stationed there that I came in peace, and then proceeded. Shortly after entering, I began exploring, making sure to avoid any dangers.
I discovered 3 planets, two of them gas giants, and one of them a molten terrestrial world near the sun corona. Orbiting one of the gas giants was a rather extensive moon base, built by local criminals known as The Defilers. After extensive scans, I found another base on the far side of this system called Pioneer Freeport. This freeport was built by a group of intrepid, peaceful explorers called The Pioneers in 808 after they were stranded here.
Unfortunately, these Defilers have been attacking their freeport, so they've had to deploy a carrier to fend off these hostiles. After meeting with the locals and chatting with some other newcomers, I found a rather odd planetoid in a field of mineral resources. When I came back to the freeport, a new Kusari Battleship, the Shokaku, had appeared near the freeport.
This does not bode well, as Kusari's rapid militarization may engulf the system in perpetual conflict. The Defilers are also rather dangerous, but could become allies if the Pioneers turn on us. Hopefully no innocents will die because of the intervention of outside groups.
