I was initially annoyed at the Hellfire Nemp as there wasn't any prior warning of it, so there wasn't a severely reduced opportunity to potentially log in and stop it from occuring with a CD'er or anything like that, and UN had no way of finding out roundabout when it was . However we rolled with it as I realised it was a great roleplay opportunity.
The difference here is that UN pretty much pre-warned them that this was happening several times, including giving diplomatic opportunities to prevent it from happening. There was also roleplay around the NEMP weapon construction that was implied before hand, like the purchase of a vast number of nuclear devices from the Junker Congress.
The course of the war has always been that the Separatists were going to win quickly, within the first three months, or the Unioners were going to reinforce once a set number of logistics and roleplay projects based around the Pacifica attack were finished, creating a much more brutal, no longer one-sided conflict in the region. They wern't easy projects to expedite or cut-corners on, and showcase a clear buildup of Unioner reinforcements against the Separatists.
So the Unioners are now fighting confidently. There's a lot of roleplay basis behind that, and I would have consented to the Separatists actually occupying Pacifica if they had won the earlygame events with the cruiser at the beginning of the war.
Also I did try to do the NEMP shot when three SSRT battlecruisers were online and one separatist friendly freelancer. They appeared to log just as I'd assembled three bombers and two VHFs as escorts for the NEMP ship, at which point I had all the people online and supposed that the Lane Hacker would have informed them as it was going on. There's Seperatists in UN discord chat for communication purposes, who were online at the time, and could see it happening with over 24 hours of notice.
