Patrol Report 152839
Today as the RPS-Wachau took off of New Berlin the intent was to keep a close eye on the surrounding area as increased smuggerly activity especially in regards to Black Market munitions and other contraband has been turning in to an issue in the New Berlin system.
The first vessel identified was the Firenzo under supposed Corse affiliation. After ordering the vessel to stop, which was being complied with, a full load of Black Market Munitions was spotted on the vessel. According to the laws of Rheinland the posession of Black Market Munitions are illegal under §2.1., as such the Trader was ordered to drop the cargo and to pay a standard fine of 5 million SC. While the trader complied with the dropping of their cargo from the cargohold they refused to pay the fine and started to try and escape after they had been made aware of the consequences of their actions.
The destruction of the Firenzo was the result.
Due to these circumstances the captain of the Wachau would recommend a more stringent controll of Corse affiliated ships in the future to make sure that no further attempts are being made to cross the line of Rheinland law. While it would be possible to assume all vessels affiliated with this faction to be of ill intent it might also be a single black sheep in the family in this case. Though should more issues of this kind arise harsher measures might have to be taken.
After this the RPS-Wachau took up station again at Planet New Berlin. This position had to be broken after it became clear that a trader with the designation of BMF|Fulgrim.Phoenecian was being followed by a suspected pirate with the designation Red.Rhein in the Stuttgart system. Initial telemetry data indicated that the trading vessel would not be able to stay ahead of the suspected pirate. As such the RPS-Wachau was given the order to move from Planet New Berlin to the Stuttgart jump gate in the New Berlin System.
Exiting the tradelane the pirate was already trying to make monetary concessions off of the trader to leave their cargo alone. Seeing the situation a quick decision was necessary and thus the order to engage was given so that the trader would have time to disengage and flee from the site of battle so as to guarantee their security.
The pirate vessel was engaged and kept in the area via the liberal use of cruise disruptor missiles. Even so the trader had to be reminded to leave the area for their own safety as the pirate was repeatedly trying to disengage from the RPS-Wachau and to destroy the trading vessel.
Once the trading vessel had left the combat area the pirate vessel was successfully destroyed.
While it seemed that the trader was willing to part with some of their wealth as a show of gratitude towards a job well done this had to be kindly rejected as no upstanding officer of Rheinland could accept a reward for simply doing their duty. Knowing that the trade lanes are safe once again and the nice paycheck from the government are enough for anyone.
