Urgent tight-beam communication >> Department of Tactical Operations // 04/23/830 A.S.
Upon nearing the last leg of my patrol and shakedown cruise of XFR-8801, the long-range electronic warfare unit newly assigned to me based upon the "Grizzly" chassis, returning to New York from Colorado, I came across a Xeno on long range scanners. Immediately, I left the trade lane and vectored towards the threat, proving to be XA-Cobra, otherwise known as Robert Eugene Hughes or 'Damien Moretti'. The details are largely unimportant, however the threat was engaged and quickly Hughes fell back to a fighting retreat. Noting that I would run out of cruise disruptors long before he ran out of countermeasures, even factoring in my vessel's greater speed at cruise, I opted to instead follow the Xeno to see where he would go, a choice that would prove fruitful as he fled to the Ontario system, the nest of the Xeno movement itself.
Upon entering the system, I engaged my vessel's cloak due to the Ontario system being largely uncharted since lawful forces pulled out years ago. With such sensitive and advanced communications and scanning arrays on my vessel, I was hesitant to take the risk of being jumped by superior numbers. Still trailing the Xeno, however, he lead me towards jump holes both towards the California and Kepler systems. The California entrance to Ontario has been mapped by myself and my crew in the middle-left of Sector D3, the Colorado entrance at the bottom right corner of Sector B5, and the Kepler entrance at the bottom of the BC4 line. It is noteworthy however that this is by far the most unstable of all three jump holes, and transit of vessels above Freighter-class is not recommended.
While my gratitude goes out to Mr. Hughes for his contributions to the cartography of the Liberty combined armed forces, I would propose that Tactical Operations in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security use these entry points to stage further scouting operations into the Ontario system and perhaps identify the state of the Xeno presence in the system. I have attached my own updated map with the new jump hole data, including points of egress. Given that Hughes only showed me the unstable Kepler jump hole when I was still in pursuit after all other attempts to shake me, I believe that the rumoured Xenos base of operations may be in sector BC23 as he may have been attempting to keep me away from this area of the system if he could, however this is a tenuous theory and it would likely be an extremely high risk operation to search the entire sector, as such a search of this nature is not recommended.
In Service to the Republic.
