My assignment for the day was to patrol the planet Manhattan and scan passing ships for contraband. One of the ships scanned was the captain of a Cryer Corporation vessel - Ron.Boyd. The scan revealed nothing illegal: the ship was carrying Liberty Ale, which was flying to the Pennsylvania system, to the planet Erie. However, during the conversation, he claimed to have seen artifact smuggling by the Liberty Police. After appropriate questioning, I established the following:
The captain claimed that about a year ago there was an artifact smuggling situation.
He said the smuggling involved an entire convoy, consisting of three Bisons and several fighters as escort, which advanced from the gate to the Bering system.
All ships were labeled as Liberty Police vessels. At the same time, it sounded like the ships were headed for the planet Manhattan.
The captain himself also claimed that perhaps these smugglers had a secret warehouse on the planet somewhere in its mountains. If that was indeed the situation, it's necessary to check the fleet's database of Jump Gate flights and reports from about a year ago. I then escorted him to the Erie planet, where we also had a conversation on other topics not related to that situation with the Bisons, after which I landed on the Battleship Alma, where I await refueling and technical inspection of my ship.
