Even if it's not a 'professional operation', I'd figure the usual development tactics would still be employed. If the update wasn't finished when the announcement was made, or at least damn near almost done, then why announce a concrete release date? Again, that time should've really been spent killing bugs and ironing out kinks. Even if this is just a hobby for the development team, which even with my shitty attitude at times I appreciate it as the rest of the community does, a month is still plenty of time to get any serious game-breaking bugs out so it's at least serviceable for the community to help hunt down the rest.
