Story/Biography: Born an orphan on Malta fifty-five years ago (779 A.S.), Corvo's early years were spent stalking the streets of Porto d'Anzio looking for easy marks among the Freelancers and Smugglers that came to Malta for Cardamine. Some of the off-worlders could barely stand after their first hit, and this made snatching creds literal childs' play. When Corvo was thirteen years old, he crossed paths with the late Don Matteo Gotti after making the mistake of trying to pinch some creds off of the Don. Rather than discipline the boy, Don Gotti saw potential and took him in, raising him like a son. From this great man, Corvo learned of the great Orange Dream and the importance of the Cardamine trade. Finally, he had a family and a glorious purpose. Over the next few years, Corvo would serve the Gotti family as a cardamine runner on and off world, eventually earning himself his own Sabre which he put to use escorting newer runners and putting down Corsair dogs.
In 800 A.S. while overseeing cardamine operations on Malta for the Gotti family, Corvo received word that Don Matteo Gotti had been captured by Liberty authorities and was being quietly transferred to Cryer Pharmaceuticals. After using the family's connections to pull a few strings, Corvo learned Matteo was being held at a remote research facility in Sigma-17 along with several other sons of Malta. With the help of the best Sabre pilots from the cartels connected to the Gotti family, Corvo travelled to Sigma-17 only to find the research facility already under attack by the enigmatic Order. The leader of the attack claimed Cryer Pharmaceuticals was working with the Nomads and conducting experiments on Maltese in an attempt to synthesize cardamine. The Gotti family and the Order forces agreed to storm the facility together, rescue the Outcast captives and discover the Nomads' plans. During the ensuing firefight, a tank of refined liquid cardamine was shot and exploded, catching Corvo in the blast. The blast severely damaged the left side of his face and left eye, dosing the tissue with pure cardamine, blackening the tissue and making his left pupil glow a fiery orange like the skies of Malta. With the captives rescued, the Order destroyed the base and vanished using their cloaking devices.
Over the next 34 years, the Gotti family struggled to maintain financial stability as Matteo Gotti succumbed to his treatment at the hands of Cryer Pharmaceuticals and the Nomads, requiring more and more purer and purer cardamine just to get out of bed. In 827 A.S. Don Matteo Gotti passed away, leaving the Gotti family legacy to Corvo who has spent his time rebuilding the family's financial stability despite his own need for regular pure cardamine injections.
Why do you want to join us?: To spread Cardamine to every corner of the sector and beyond, and to work closely with the best scientists and pilots of Starfleet to that end. I myself do not revere the Spirits, as my personal interactions with them in my youth left more than a few scars. However, I have begun to see.. visions.. and hear dissonant whispers I cannot ignore. I believe in the power of Cardamine. Not only as a means for us to control the Houses, but to communicate with the Nomads and develop new technology.
What does Cardamine mean to you?: In a word: Everything. Cardamine is the blood of our people, but it also gave this once orphan boy a future.
OORP Information:
Fighters/Bombers or Capital Vessels?: Capital Vessels. I currently fly a "Peregrine" frigate and enjoy it, but look forward to flying something larger. I prefer capital ship gameplay over dogfighting.
