The Gammu AIs are likely from the sleeper ship Hispania, which passed through the Omicrons on its journey from Gamma to Alpha. Despite their human origins, they have become alien due to their transformation by Daam K'Vosh artifacts found in Omicron Kappa.
However, traces of their original programming persist and influence their goals. That's why they haven't become exterminators.
