Hey everyone, I'm pretty new here so I just have a couple of questions that have to do with the mod balance, specifically money.
After playing for a few hours on the server I have found it is very difficult to make money. Yes I know I'm not supposed to have a million dollars in one hour, but I have not been able to find a decent method at making money so I can purchase new weapons, equipment, etc...
I first started off by doing missions, it didn't seem too bad at first but when I realized that every mission would take 20+ minutes to complete because of traveling+VERY tough NPC's and other factors such as loosing your shields after the NPC you are battling bumps into you. What makes this method even harder is the low pay. At about a million for a ship I don't think I will be able to get a new one for a while and then when I can't even defend against pirates (trade lane hackers) it makes it even harder.
I even tried doing a mission with a friend and it took us about 20 minutes just for a mission with a difficulty of 10 to complete, and we barely made it through that.
My second method I tried was trading goods and bringing them from planet to planet with a friend. I have to say this plan looked good on paper but it definitely did not work in game. After picking our goods up from New Tokyo we headed towards New Berlin and at first it seemed easy, there were almost no enemies. Then we hot to Frankfurt and were destroyed over and over by pirates. That's when I gave up and made a new character all together.
I know the NPC's are supposed to be "tough" but to a new player like myself they are more of "impossible" to me. This is where I begin to wonder how people get to the levels of 60, 70, and even 80. I know they are good players but honestly how did they do that?
I am just wondering if someone could explain to me how a new person can make money (not just money but a decent amount to purchase ships). I just can not understand it. I also apologize if this thread is not under the proper topic, it seemed like the right place to me anyways.
