As exaggerated and grim as it may appear, "Idiocracy" comes to mind every now and again. I don't know why some people actually bother having children in the first place, since they seem not to be at all interested in raising other people.
I don't know for a fact, but I have some ideas:
Some people have children out of fear of being alone (same reason why some marry other people).
Some are fooled by society into believing children are just too cute not to have them.
Some are convinced by religion that procriating is <some entity's> commandment. Nothing against that one in particular or anyone's belief, but where is religion afterwards to assure that those <entity's> "children" are being properly educated and taken care off?
Some have children as to garner work force for the family. As controversial/funny(?)/sad as it may sound, this, to me, appears to be the saner of these possibilities.
