Congratulations to all Rhineland Military Officials who join us in glorious combat today! A great victory for our service was hard won this day!
Axel had engaged a Wraith fighter, now ID'ed as their leader Shadow, and was calling for assistance. Erik and myself were quick to arrive on the scene, and soon engaged the vastly outnumbered fighter. After a minute of this, a Corsair Gunboat arrived. Although strange to see this ship, it was not of immediate concern to me. I ordered it to leave, twice, and it failed to do so. When the vessel engaged a pair of trade ships, action had to be taken. The Gunboat was engaged, bringing the fight to three against two. Some time passed and the cruiser Geiseltalsee joined our fight. By now, the Gunboat was seemingly having second doubts and deploying himself rather cautiously. However, once the fire of myself, the Geiseltalsee, and Erik massed on him the Corsair took a direct hit to the bridge and fled the area. Now with only the Wraith to fight, we poured fire like water onto him. Never let it be said the Wraith are without skills, for this Shadow was a slippery bugger. Eventually all that fire had to hit, and thus it was the famed Bundshchuh leader found his ship shot out from underneath him as his intake ate one of my missiles. His escape pod managed to light away before our tractors could pick it up, unfortunately.
The Gunboat returned a second time, and was engaged. The Geiseltalsee sustained heavy damage at this juncture and had to fall back. Axel has dropped away as well, leaving myself and Erik to fight. The pilot Meric entered the fray now, evening the odds a bit more. For a second time, the Corsair was driven off, and the Bundschuh called in more reinforcements. A Unioner, ID'ed as Vlad appeared, armed with a Tiiadan bomber. It would seem the pirates are willing to get their hands on any ship able to take on capital class ships these days. Shadow continued to evade our fighters fire, although Vlad was no so lucky. Once the two had caught up with the bomber he was sent fleeing and spouting flame. The gunboat fled a second time, and Shadow continued to fly around, playing more pest then actual menace.
Vlad reappeared, and in the confused melee at Oder Shipyards, finally perished, his escape pod managing to escape amidst the wreckage and the shipyard itself. The Corsair at last blew apart as my turret plasma ate his ship into nothing, escaping with what is assumed to be less then half crew left. The Bundschuh, finally acknowledging the uselessness of his fight as the SF gunboat Trident appeared, fled the area with little left to his name but an intact cockpit.
Quite a well done fight, by all. I congratulate you. Now, if you'll pardon me, I have to go and get my ship fixed up in Dry Dock. I'll be sitting there for about a week.
