I still think the Miner ID should be able to demand ore. It adds a level of complexity to mining that is commensurate with the amount of profit being made. There are many good rp reasons why an independent miner might demand ore.

Edit: Also, the Miner ID doesnt allow you to pirate anyone they want. They can only demand ore. You have much more flexablity with any pirate faction.

Ore is the most valuable commodity, and they have the flexibility to land on the base with the best sell price for said commodity.

And there are many good RP reasons why an independent trader, or smuggler, might demand cargo. There's good RP reasons for a lot of stuff which isn't allowed.

I like the idea of Miner IDs demanding ore, sort of, but it's open to far too much abuse as-is. Right now it's little more than a pirate ID which is only allowed to demand ore (the most valuable commodity), but which can land on lawful bases, use lawful equipment, and can't be bothered by police/military unless caught in the act.

Pirates pirate, lawfuls shoot pirates, traders trade. That's the balance that Disco has held and enforced for a long time. If we want to break the mold, why are we doing it with some IDs (Miner), but not other 'equal' IDs with just as much cause (Indie Trader/Smuggler)?
