I fully support people pirating miners, especially those too cheap to hire an escort or pay him well enough to be loyal. My only problem is with generic miners hanging around unmolested (and my unmolested, I mean not getting shot at/kicked out by the law for being a pirate) in lawful space and flagrantly pirating. Take it to the border worlds and independent systems. If the Miner ID said, "Can demand ore from any ship in any independent system.", I wouldn't have much problem with it. Though I still think that if the Miner ID can pirate for ore, then the Indie Trader and Smuggler IDs should be able to pirate cargo (only in independent systems, of course).
