I remember one time I was travelling from one system to another in a unlawful fighter, and one big liberty dreadnought shoted at me without any warning in New Berlin. Was a guy without a player faction tag, but he was tagged as lawful. He dont said to me leave the system, he simply shoted. Two shots and my fighter was blowed out.
Now battleships are cruising very fast and even a chase is not possible anymore, unless there are too many asteroids near. And with its weapons having a long range, it will be difficult for any other ship to escape.
Ive seem few RP in the server in the last weeks. There was only one occasion recently, in New Berlin, where I witnessed the RM talking with a IND fighter in a RP manner. But the rest, I dont see anything. People simply want to shoot at each other and thats all. Some of them like to taunt, but taunt is not enough. Some come to the forum to flame its opponents, like in the recent episode concerning the right for a pirate to use battleships against military targets. It was interesting to note in that flame war that nobody pointed out that a player corporation was also using a battleship, and such ship might not be used by civilians. Now anyone with time and pattience can buy a battleship in just two weeks, just remember SirRed that bought two battleships in quite a few time.
Yes, battleships should be nerfed. In WWII battleships were easily targetted by torpedos launched from submarines. We cant have submarines but we have bombers. I even proposed new models of bombers, its the only way to not get a situation of everybody flying taiidans and rh bombers because of the capship whoring. People should use more cruisers and destroyers if they want something big, and battleships should be used only by the most skilled capship players.
