I totally agree with you on most of the points Ian.
Sure Tau 23 is and will always be a dangerous place, but somehow, we miners seem to like it.
Of course, we cannot close our borders and prevent foreigners to pay us a visit. How would we survive without the supplies they sell us? But like a man to his dog, I think it s important to remind them who is the master of the house.
Like many of the folks around me, I've been mining for quite a while now and I can say I have adopted the most preventive reflexes to avoid the loss of my ore, my money or my life. Of course, I'd be already dead without this incredible solidarity that unifies or sisters and brothers.
All I am trying to say is that, to survive the new threats coming from Sirius and Gallia, IMG needs to reorganize itself and improve what already exists. We are a small guild composed by brave men working hard to bring comfort and happiness into this tough system called Tau 23. And we are ready to defend our houses against the most powerful enemies. But we need to optimize the different procedures regarding recruitment, mining, transport and defense issues.
Simply put: More profit, less casualties!
After some conversations with our folks at the bar in Java, I would like to present to our leaders a few elements to consider for the improvement of our Guild. 1. Most of us consider the CR folks as part of the family. We have seen many of them losing their lives trying to protect our miners or haulers. We would only take advantage of a joint effort between our department of Defense and their Armed Forces. Some of us believe a fusion of both forces would create a great strike force against any threats. In practical terms: One headquarters, one armed force for both factions. However CR and IMG could keep their own squad for special ops. 2. Organize weekly an extraordinary convoy. We miners would combine our efforts to fill one or two barges of ore once a week. The content of those barges would be escorted by minimum 6 vessels from the new army. Just imagine the benefits from this procedure: 1billion credits to earn from each run. Part of this profit would be equally shared between all the members, without distinction between CR and IMG, who have helped in the project. Another part would be used as investments in better equipment, recruitment, R&D projects, etc. Advantages of this system would be to diminish considerably the several illegitimate taxes every small convoy suffers from each run. What could 3 or 4 pirates do in front of such a convoy? 3. Give more members the power to recruit people. This new board would be composed by veterans of the guild with enough experience to identify which one is fit to join the guild. 4. Adopt the system of patronage. Each member decides to help a new comer integrate the guild, show him how things work around and increase this way the bonds that link us all.
I'm just asking our wise leaders to think about those ideas and take the best from them. Once again, the final objective is to improve our conditions and strengthen our community. (//and bring a lot of RP hehe)
