Jeez I am casting my mind back sometime here. I think it was 2003/4 maybe, I was playing in bands and had built a massive home studio complete with work station computer (A P4 2.8Ghz I think.) I had played a few computer games growing up (I was early 20's at this point) but nothing had really 'sucked me in' yet......YET!
Whilst poking around the net looking for some of these new 'online games' people were talking about. I found one called Freelancer. I fired it up and tried to connect to a server on my 56K dial up modem to a USA host....no love.....so I spent the next 3 months playing single player story mode in the studio until my band mates had an intervention and made me remove all games from the studio workstation. I then entered into a period of my life with no freelancer..........
When World of Warcrack came out I started playing, and playing and playing and then almost lost my career, my wife the respect of all of my friends. I woke up one day and quit and never went back to WoW (or ever will).
Whilst this saw massive improvements in all departments of my life, I still had a void to fill. I found myself wondering about that awesome game I used to play, that was never matched...what was it called again....freebaser.......fulllancer......freelancer!
I started poking around the Web and found some mod called Discovery 4.85, OMFG, the community kept the game going! Needless to say I downloaded it promptly, fired it up and got my 1st sanction. I quit, vowing never to return and that whoever was playing it now had 'ruined' the game.
Then after floating on the sea of today's gaming offerings I loaded up Discovery FL again, this time I actually read the rules...now I am here to stay....
