If we assume that node structure of their collective mind is the real model, then it's very possible that with the collapse of the nomad city they have lost their top node, as a result of fallback a single collective has been shattered in smaller groups. They still share the same goals, same ideals, they are still Nomads and there is no change in their society, it's just that they are less organized and have lost some knowledge in the fallback. That would also explain their behavior as NPC groups (I think Jinx have asked that question somewhere here or in a thread nearby). Das Wilde in this case have lost contact with Nomads, but being that they are essentially "nomads-in-disguise" they continue their part in the grand scheme of things (check history item in 4.84).
I wish there were Das Wilde players too, so that Taurvi's visits to Rheinland space and O-55 wouldn't be just a one-man show.
