what the OP says appears to be based on rules - keeping rules, making rules, breaking rules.
why don t we behave like *******s? ( at least most of us ) - becuase there is something like a social conscience. - a code of behaviour.
without such a code - a community is nothing but a bunch of people. but a bunch of people doesn t make a community.
when its about rules and the power to break them...
imagine that... :
a policeman comes up to you, gives you his gun and says "you may kill one random person, no hard feelings" - yes... there are a few sick people who would enjoy it ... but most people wouldn t shoot even if they were not punished at all for it... because there is a code of behaviour.
in other words - one does not go around shooting random people dead.
so if you are a "host" ( please notice the term "host" ) of a community - you have certain responsibilities. at good parties - the "host" of the party also takes up responsibilities...
- he will ensure that no one goes dry
- he will entertain his guests
- he will partake in chats and gossip
- he will serve food and drink
- he will throw those out who are about to ruin the party for others
and all the while - he is the one owning the premises, paying for the food and drink...
