Hauptmann von Herrmann here.
It is my unfortunate duty to inform you of the crippling of the RNC-Nuremburg. The vessel was damaged during the escape of a captured Liberty spy, and is presently located on Oder awaiting repairs. The agent was encountered while undertaking joint-operations training with the 73rd Veitschchheim (Boarding Unit.) in Dresden. The Libertonian was detected first by Ge. Adler, a commendable display of precision considering the size of the opposing bomber craft. His bomber was destroyed in short order, and the escape pod taken aboard. A complete report is yet to be compiled; however, it appears the LSF make use of non-standard pods, ja? The prisoner then proceeded to sabotage the Nuremburg's systems before escaping on-board interception craft dispatched to provide assistance. No useful intelligence was recovered from the agent, save what appears to be his callsign. Zeta, so I am told. A full report pertaining to this matter will be submitted in due time.
None of the Nuremburg's permanent crew suffered major injury in the event. Stabsunteroffizier Karl sustained a minor concussion, all signs indicate that he will return to active duty within the week.
I am disappointed with the conduct of the 73rd. Upon contact with the enemy, the entirety of the 6th Platoon fled without regard to the safety of my crew or their own duty. Messages have been dispatched regarding their immediate discharge.
In the stead of the Nuremburg, a Norn-Class Gunboat, I have been offered command of the RNC-Rohrberg, a cruiser-class vessel attached to the 4th Kreuzer Gruppe. It is with a heavy heart that I accepted this new appointment. The 303rd Geschwader are left under the command of Leutnant Brandt, I have no doubt he will do them proud.
This does; however, leave the issue of the Nuremburg. Local engineers indicate the vessel will be ready to return to regular duties within three weeks. As I will not be re-joining the 303rd, the vessel is hereby placed at the disposal of Rheinwehr Command. Expect docking codes over a private frequency as soon as the Gunboat is operational.
On a more personal note, the existing crew of the Nuremburg will be accompanying me for the duration of this command. I cannot think of a group I would rather have at my side.
Signed,
Hauptmann Nikolaus von Herrmann,
4th Kreuzer Gruppe
