If the event rules would say so, they would have to care. That has nothing to do with double standards. The moment it turns into a 3 vs 1, the 1 pretty much knows already how it ends. In a duel, it is at least no piling and shieldrunning for ten minutes. Is there a loss if the last one gets at least a chance to leave the battlefield alive? A blue, at max. Is there a loss when three guys pile at you? Yes. Why would you sign up to an event - one of the very few instances where you actually set rules to a fight instead of the usual blurry and squishy non-written laws that each faction and player has variations of - when you know as soon as the numbers are against you, you can't win anymore? A few people might can, but when you do an event, you know who is on what ship.
