It's good to see that the ERC is up and running, just in time for my report. As instructed, I have been on Harris for the last three days, checking on the state of our assets here, and what the status of the terraforming project is after the Gallic occupation. Before I get into that, though, I need to report an incident that occurred on the way here.
As I was approaching the Tau-31 gate in Leeds, I encountered two Gaian vessels (N|-Scurfy.Twiglet & N|-Weed.Van) and a Crayterian capital ship (=CR=FV-Agamemnon|16). The Gaian attempted to accost me, but I managed to make it through the gate before anything else could occur. Unfortunately, it didn't help, as they had friends on the other side of the gate (N|-False.Deathcap). Unfortunately, the Agamemnon left me high and dry, and since I was clearly outmatched, I decided to indulge their desire for conversation. Shortly after I stopped, an additional Gaian ship (GG-W-Saraswati.) arrived on the scene. Fortunately, this bunch of idiots were True Believers™, and couldn't resist the opportunity to argue their flawed, empty-headed philosophy with me.
The distraction worked in my favour, since a Crayterian cruiser (=CR=FV-Eris|283) arrived on the scenes to back me up, just as things were about to turn ugly. I can only assume the Agamemnon sent them to assist, since they were apparently unable to do so themselves. The prospect of tangling with a Crayter Military cruiser went a long way to calming the situation down, and the Gaians allowed us to pass without incident. The Eris helpfully escorted me all the way to Harris and saw that I landed safely. I informed him of the purpose of my visit and told him to tell his government to expect a report from us in the near future.
Now, on to more important matters. Our equipment is largely intact, despite the Gallic invasion and occupation. Not to mention EFL's amateurs fumbling around with technology they don't understand. Surprisingly, they figured out how to operate our equipment without doing a great deal of damage in the process and were making impressive progress for someone making it up as they went along. I had to go directly to the terraforming equipment and atmospheric sensors to extract the raw data to figure that out, though. The computers here are going to need a complete wipe and restored to factory settings before we can move forward. The Gauls installed their own software, and I can't make heads or tails of it. Working on terraforming equipment is easy. Reading French... that's hard.
During the days leading up to, and in the immediate aftermath of the Gallic invasion, work here had halted entirely. EFL initially made little progress getting the project back on track, and some of the atmosphere was lost due to outgassing, putting the project even further behind schedule. They eventually managed to (mostly) successfully reverse engineer our process and got the project moving forward again. Due to improper calibration and incorrect settings on the hardware, their progress was slower than ours would've been in the same situation. The net effect of all this is that Harris is currently in the same state now as it was before the outbreak of the war. A quick back-of-the-envelope calculation suggests that, if we begin soon, we can complete the project in approximately 7 to 10 years.
I'll remain here for the time being and see what else I can do with the equipment here. Maybe see if I can get these computers to talk to me. I'm also available to deal with the local Crayterian authorities if you need me to.
[12.10.2019 22:43:43] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Ahoy there, Agamemnon.
[12.10.2019 22:44:00] =CR=FV-Agamemnon|16: G: Ahoy.
[12.10.2019 22:44:41] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: G'day Crayterian.
[12.10.2019 22:44:47] =CR=FV-Agamemnon|16: G: Hello.
[12.10.2019 22:44:55] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Oh, my. That could be a problem.
[12.10.2019 22:45:05] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: Hold up Amelia.
[12.10.2019 22:45:09] N|-Weed.Van: A: It is.
[12.10.2019 22:45:13] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Sorry, too late. Sequence is going.
[12.10.2019 22:45:38] N|-False.Deathcap: Hello thee
[12.10.2019 22:45:40] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Well... that, too, is unfortunate.
[12.10.2019 22:45:44] =CR=FV-Agamemnon|16: G: Hello.
[12.10.2019 22:45:59] N|-Weed.Van: Well well.
[12.10.2019 22:46:00] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: Crayterian *nods*
[12.10.2019 22:46:06] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Agamemnon, it looks like you've got this in hand. I'm just going to go check on the terraforming equipment on Harris.
[12.10.2019 22:46:09] N|-Weed.Van: I didn't see one of you rats in a long time.
[12.10.2019 22:46:21] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: No, you won't/
[12.10.2019 22:46:28] Death: Travadyr was put out of action by a hostile vessel.
[12.10.2019 22:46:34] PF-Amelia.Flynn: They would leave me behind. Go figure.
[12.10.2019 22:46:43] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: Stop moving.
[12.10.2019 22:46:49] PF-Amelia.Flynn: So, what do you witless wonders want?
[12.10.2019 22:47:00] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Come to prevent me from turning a planet green in the name of nature?
[12.10.2019 22:47:16] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: A reason not to eliminate you where you sit.
[12.10.2019 22:47:45] N|-Weed.Van: A: Your corp commmited some nasty crimes against nature, can't expect to not get someone mad eventually.
[12.10.2019 22:47:47] PF-Amelia.Flynn: I don't suppose appealing to your humanity will help.
[12.10.2019 22:47:55] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: You are not better then the Gauls and what they did to Leeds, you do to planets regularly.
[12.10.2019 22:47:55] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Crimes against nature... name them.
[12.10.2019 22:48:17] N|-Weed.Van: A: California Minor and Harris, right in front of your face.
[12.10.2019 22:48:24] PF-Amelia.Flynn: What the Gauls did to Leeds does NOT compare to Planetform's work.
[12.10.2019 22:48:30] PF-Amelia.Flynn: We create, not destroy.
[12.10.2019 22:48:44] N|-False.Deathcap: You pervert the natural order
[12.10.2019 22:48:47] PF-Amelia.Flynn: We take empty, lifeless worlds, and transform them into vibrant, living planets.
[12.10.2019 22:48:52] N|-Weed.Van: A: Don't try to make your sh*t look less bad with whatever someone else did lad.
[12.10.2019 22:48:55] PF-Amelia.Flynn: That's impossible. We're a part of nature.
[12.10.2019 22:49:01] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Everything we do is part of the natural order.
[12.10.2019 22:49:17] PF-Amelia.Flynn: And that's what people like you don't understand. You think we're seperate from nature.
[12.10.2019 22:49:18] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: You destroy nature to create cesspools for humanity to destroy even further.
[12.10.2019 22:49:42] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Planetform transforming a world is no different than a bee building a hive, or a beaver building a dam.
[12.10.2019 22:49:42] N|-Weed.Van: A: What's the point in terraforming if those planets will eventually end like Leeds anyways.
[12.10.2019 22:49:54] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Like them, we, too, adjust our environment for our needs.
[12.10.2019 22:50:15] Death: GC-Fuyuzora suffered a self-inflicted catastrophic decompression.
[12.10.2019 22:50:23] PF-Amelia.Flynn: As to Leeds, we'll fix it some day.
[12.10.2019 22:50:29] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: Their work can be brought back into nature, what you do is unatural.
[12.10.2019 22:50:30] N|-Weed.Van: A: Bees don't exploit resuorces and waste planets with overproduction, pollution and the like.
[12.10.2019 22:50:54] PF-Amelia.Flynn: There's that word again. How can our work be unnatural if we, ourselves, are a part of nature?
[12.10.2019 22:51:05] PF-Amelia.Flynn: We're the same product of evolution as every other living thing.
[12.10.2019 22:51:29] N|-Weed.Van: A: Mankind stopped being natural as soon as they started to produce goods, stop saying nonsense.
[12.10.2019 22:51:49] PF-Amelia.Flynn: When a spider builds a web, is that unnatural?
[12.10.2019 22:52:06] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: You compare your work to a Spider's web yes?
[12.10.2019 22:52:11] PF-Amelia.Flynn: How about when a chimpanzee uses a stick to fish termites out of a hole? They're using tools, is t hat unnatural?
[12.10.2019 22:52:36] Death: OC|Black.Phoenix was put out of action by a hostile vessel.
[12.10.2019 22:52:46] N|-Weed.Van: A: The issue itself is not industry either, it's greedy and capitalist corporations, looking for benefit.
[12.10.2019 22:52:54] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: Tell me, when was the last time you saw anything human decay naturally in the elements with out some catastrophy?
[12.10.2019 22:52:58] N|-Weed.Van: A: And not thinking for the future or the consequences.
[12.10.2019 22:53:22] PF-Amelia.Flynn: That's a stupid question. Without active maintenance, everything decays eventually.
[12.10.2019 22:54:07] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: That too, Corporations who seek only to consume with no regard for the consequences. They take and they take and then
[12.10.2019 22:54:10] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: What?
[12.10.2019 22:54:29] PF-Amelia.Flynn: We transform planets, and then we get paid. It's a mutually beneficial relationship.
[12.10.2019 22:54:32] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: They leave the planets no different then they were when you found them.
[12.10.2019 22:54:38] PF-Amelia.Flynn: What we do requires investment of resources and effort.
[12.10.2019 22:54:47] PF-Amelia.Flynn: We get paid in return for that effort.
[12.10.2019 22:55:11] N|-False.Deathcap: Adam: Contaminating worlds through terraforming removes them from their original natural order
[12.10.2019 22:55:36] N|-False.Deathcap: A world unfit for human live could still harbor its own life that you endager through a hunger for profits
[12.10.2019 22:56:01] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Did I not just get done explaining that? Nobody works for free.
[12.10.2019 22:56:14] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: Nature does.
[12.10.2019 22:56:19] N|-False.Deathcap: Adam: Life over profit
[12.10.2019 22:56:35] PF-Amelia.Flynn: You'd have us preserve lifeless rocks in your quest to preserve nature.
[12.10.2019 22:56:48] GG-W-Saraswati.: Oh, someone to bully.
[12.10.2019 22:56:51] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Well, another Gaian. Am I that much of a threat?
[12.10.2019 22:57:03] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: Nature has made them lifeless for a reason.
[12.10.2019 22:57:46] GG-W-Saraswati.: Not in principle, nope, but I can't say I'm that comfortable with the activities of your employers.
[12.10.2019 22:57:57] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: They should not and will not harbor life. Not so long as The Nemesis has a say.
[12.10.2019 22:58:24] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Another one who lives only to destroy. Have you ever built anything, or is death all you know?
[12.10.2019 22:58:32] GG-W-Saraswati.: Imagine wasting a century or two on terraforming a planet that will be able to sustain life for a few millenia tops.
[12.10.2019 22:58:45] Rules Tip: Do not disconnect from the server to escape player versus player interaction. Your ship will remain helpless in space for 2 minutes and you will not be able to reconnect during this time.
[12.10.2019 22:58:48] GG-W-Saraswati.: What a fuc*ing waste of time and resources.
[12.10.2019 22:59:02] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Why build a house, knowing it'll fall down eventually? Wouldn't it be better to sleep out in the elements?
[12.10.2019 22:59:05] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Idiot.
[12.10.2019 22:59:14] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: A better use it to find and research ways for Humanity to live off planets.
[12.10.2019 22:59:36] GG-W-Saraswati.: Building a house makes sense in principle, but on shaky ground...
[12.10.2019 22:59:50] GG-W-Saraswati.: Eh, you're going to ask for that catastrophe when it hits.
[12.10.2019 23:00:00] PF-Amelia.Flynn: You know a way to allow a hundred billion people to live in space? Or do some need to die so you can live in your perfect...
[12.10.2019 23:00:02] PF-Amelia.Flynn: universe?
[12.10.2019 23:00:22] N|-Weed.Van: A: If the house is lead by counterproductive and destrictive people, there's no way something good will be funded there.
[12.10.2019 23:00:50] N|-Weed.Van: A: And seems that every house is that way, unfortunately.
[12.10.2019 23:00:58] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: I said research for a reason, the resources you waste terraforming could be put elsewhere.
[12.10.2019 23:01:07] GG-W-Saraswati.: I will be honest, unlike the new guys I'm not opposed to planetary settlement, I think they really need a few more moments to
[12.10.2019 23:01:10] GG-W-Saraswati.: think about it.
[12.10.2019 23:01:21] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Like into the filtration systems used to maintain your ships environment? We built those, too.
[12.10.2019 23:01:24] N|-Weed.Van: A: Making sustainable stations for example.
[12.10.2019 23:01:57] PF-Amelia.Flynn: You want that, you should be funding both us and Synth Foods. Between the two companies, such things will eventually be possible.
[12.10.2019 23:02:34] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: Humanity doesn't need that poison Synth Food pans off as food.
[12.10.2019 23:02:50] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: Real food, not some synthetic crap.
[12.10.2019 23:02:51] GG-W-Saraswati.: Imitation food?
[12.10.2019 23:02:52] GG-W-Saraswati.: Ew.
[12.10.2019 23:02:54] PF-Amelia.Flynn: I don't know... I'm rather fond of the green Synth Paste.
[12.10.2019 23:03:09] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: As fake as the planets you make.
[12.10.2019 23:03:19] PF-Amelia.Flynn: That looks like a real planet to me.
[12.10.2019 23:03:30] GG-W-Saraswati.: I'm sure the taste can be appreciated, but I also think I'm entitled to more than that.
[12.10.2019 23:03:32] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: Oh, I like that "Planetform: As Fake as the Planets we make"
[12.10.2019 23:03:51] PF-Amelia.Flynn: I'll pass that suggestion up to management. As soon as I've landed safely on Harris.
[12.10.2019 23:04:00] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: About that,
[12.10.2019 23:04:01] GG-W-Saraswati.: The worlds are real in principle, the ecosystems are artificious, and unsustainable, and ultimately just a waste of time.
[12.10.2019 23:04:10] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: You are not leaving here alive today.
[12.10.2019 23:04:22] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Ahh, and on to the threats.
[12.10.2019 23:04:29] GG-W-Saraswati.: I would rather you not approach that rock.
[12.10.2019 23:04:37] PF-Amelia.Flynn: And we were having such a nice philosophical discussion up until now.
[12.10.2019 23:04:41] =CR=FV-Eris|283: G: What's going on here?
[12.10.2019 23:04:47] N|-Weed.Van: A: Well, yeah, you need to get out of here.
[12.10.2019 23:04:51] GG-W-Saraswati.: Oh, a gypsy.
[12.10.2019 23:05:05] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: Nothing serious, just a peaceful discussion.
[12.10.2019 23:05:07] PF-Amelia.Flynn: I've been accosted by terrorists with some wierd ideas about nature and humanity's future.
[12.10.2019 23:05:17] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: On the ethics of poisoning planets.
[12.10.2019 23:05:38] GG-W-Saraswati.: My issue is far more the sustainability than the ethics.
[12.10.2019 23:05:39] PF-Amelia.Flynn: They think turning lifeless rocks into life-bearing worlds is poisioning them...
[12.10.2019 23:05:43] GG-W-Saraswati.: I'm a practical sort.
[12.10.2019 23:05:43] =CR=FV-Eris|283: G: Humanity's always poisoned planets. We can't live without doing it.
[12.10.2019 23:05:44] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Remind me not to eat at their place.
[12.10.2019 23:05:49] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: I object to such accusations, we have treated you with the utmost respect, have we not guys?
[12.10.2019 23:06:34] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Respect isn't quite the word I'd use, but you were doing rather well up until the threats started.
[12.10.2019 23:06:44] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: What threats?
[12.10.2019 23:06:46] =CR=FV-Eris|283: G: Gaians, I have no issue with you spreading your word on the positives of preserving nature.
[12.10.2019 23:07:01] N|-Scurfy.Twiglet: Shane: I heard no threats?
[12.10.2019 23:07:04] N|-False.Deathcap: Adam: I understand the need to settle new planets, I am not even totally oppesed to terraforming... But there is a
[12.10.2019 23:07:25] N|-False.Deathcap: Responsibility there that I do not feel humans can be counted on for
[12.10.2019 23:07:31] N|-Weed.Van: A: Crayterian, there are frogs to deal with, with that brick of yours.
[12.10.2019 23:07:40] N|-Weed.Van: A: I suggest you to go and search for them.
[12.10.2019 23:08:12] N|-Weed.Van: A: Planetform isn't a Crayterian corporation, therefore, this doesn't concern you either.
[12.10.2019 23:08:32] =CR=FV-Eris|283: G: That may be so, but they are still civilians within my jurisdiction.
[12.10.2019 23:08:52] GG-W-Saraswati.: How gallant.
[12.10.2019 23:09:18] N|-Weed.Van: A: Funny you say that cause i'm fairly certain your Navy is quite selective with what "civilians" they defend.
[12.10.2019 23:09:35] =CR=FV-Eris|283: G: Again, I have no problem with you lot spreading your word, but there is a limit to preaching when it becomes a-
[12.10.2019 23:09:40] =CR=FV-Eris|283: -pseudo-crusade.
[12.10.2019 23:09:55] PF-Amelia.Flynn: In other words, you can talk all you like, but no shooting.
[12.10.2019 23:10:15] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Mind escorting me to Harris, Eris? I'll form on you for the short cruise.
[12.10.2019 23:10:38] PF-Amelia.Flynn: This has been a.... fascinating discussion, but I really must get to work.
[12.10.2019 23:10:46] =CR=FV-Eris|283: G: Roger. Helm, set a course.
[12.10.2019 23:11:01] PF-Amelia.Flynn: Farewell, gentlemen.
[12.10.2019 23:11:04] N|-Weed.Van: A: If you touch that planet, planetform lad, next time, there will be more than words flying.
[12.10.2019 23:11:08] N|-Weed.Van: A: Last warning.
[12.10.2019 23:11:13] PF-Amelia.Flynn: I'm sure there will.
[12.10.2019 23:11:14] GG-W-Saraswati.: Well, at least she wasn't carrying terraforming gases.
[12.10.2019 23:11:36] N|-Weed.Van: A: Also Crayterian, good to see you assist degenerates.
[12.10.2019 23:11:43] PF-Amelia.Flynn: I appreciate the escort. Once I land, I'm going to inspect the facilities and see what shape the Gauls left them in.
[12.10.2019 23:11:46] N|-Weed.Van: A: We will address that soon, don't worry.
[12.10.2019 23:12:10] =CR=FV-Eris|283: G: Roger that.
[12.10.2019 23:12:10] PF-Amelia.Flynn: I'll prepare a report for my superiors. They should be in contact with your government soon.
[12.10.2019 23:12:16] N|-Weed.Van: A: Something tells me the frogs won't have time to wreck that brick.
[12.10.2019 23:13:00] 2019-10-12 23:13:01 SMT Traffic control alert: PF-Amelia.Flynn has requested to dock
