Name:Erich Meyer Rank: - Flieger Age:24 Height:5'8" Weight:175 lbs Hair Color:Brown Eye Color:Brown Planet/Station of Origin:New Berlin Background Information:The son of Professor Maria Meyer and DHC engineer Jürgen Meyer, Erich enjoyed a relatively privileged childhood. He grew up in the ritzy Spandau region of New Berlin with all the other children of industrialist and politicians. Erich attended the best boarding schools money could buy. The headmaster of the exclusive Evangelisches Gymnasium zum Grauen Kloster described Erich as "a driven, independent boy who is more calculating than a flight computer...a 40 year old man stuck inside an 8 year old's body". At the age of 14, Erich and his family relocated to Planet Stuttgart in order for his father to work on an urban expansion project. Erich knew that his father had served in the Rheinland Navy as a young boy, but he had never discussed it due to Erich being away at school.
Erich then attended the Universität zu Berlin getting a degree in mathematics. Upon graduation, Erich's father asked him what his plans were for his life. Erich did not know. He never thought about it. He knew he could follow in his father's footsteps and have a position at DHC. He knew that he would not even have to work at getting accepted into such a position unlike everyone else just because of his father's name. The thought sickened Erich, he did not want to ride his father's coattails. Erich wanted to make something of himself, though his own successes and failures. Jürgen suggested the Rheinland Navy as a place to do just that. Jürgen spoke fondly of his time in the Navy, but Erich rejected that idea quickly suggesting that the military life was not for him. Erich boarded a passenger liner for Liberty, determined to make his own way in life.
Erich soon found that Liberty was not the place he thought it would be - criminals roamed the streets, police were very open to bribes, and loyalty was nowhere to be found. Taking the credits he made from some skillful trades, Erich began scrapping with the Junkers. Erich did not like the company that the Junkers often kept, but the credits were good. Erich soon made millions and felt as if he had truly done something and made his way. The Junkers took notice of his success and invited Erich to Puerto Rico to tour the shipyards. And there he saw it, the Junker Salvage Frigate. The Junker noticed Erich's eye and told him that one day this could be all his. All he had to do was pledge his loyalty to the Junkers and enter the family.
Erich thought long about the offer. He admired the Junkers independence, tenacity, success, and fierce loyalty to one another. He walked the halls of Vieques Shipyard thinking about this proposition when he suddenly saw a man sprawled out in one of the halls. Erich ran to him to administer aid, but noticed this guy was long gone. Erich found needles and liquid cardamine next to him, a sad sight. Erich walked back to the hanger and saw a massive cargo ship piloted by the sleaziest man ever. He was decked out from head to toe in gold and gems and threw credits around as if it was going out of style. Erich asked the man what his cargo was and the sleazy man responded "Cardamine you idiot". Erich responded, "Don't you know that stuff destroys lives!? How can you ship that vile poison? You make me sick". Erich does not remember what happened next, but he remembers waking up in Vieques' infirmary feeling as if an entire residential tower had fallen on him. Erich told the Junkers that he could not constantly be around people of such weak moral fibre and left.
Erich had credits in the bank and a ship, but not much else. He had no goal, no purpose to his life. He wound up making his way back to Stuttgart to visit his family. He visited his father at their favourite bar. In the bar, Erich saw several Rheinland Navy men on shore leave. They were drinking, laughing, and singing a song he had once heard his father sing when Erich was a little boy. Jürgen Meyer stood up, beer in hand, and began to sing along with the Navy men. The Navy men shouted in glee and embraced Erich's father. Even though Erich's father had not been in the Navy for over 20 years, those men treated him as if he were their brother and that is when it hit Erich, this is what he had been searching for. This is the level of camaraderie, loyalty, pride, respect, and purpose he had been searching for. His father and those Navy men had a sense of pride to everything they did and an aurora of commitment to the Vaterland surrounded them. Erich had been spending the last 3 years searching for what had been in front of him the entire time.
The next day Erich got in contact with one of his Junker connections and got a Wraith very heavy fighter and went to enlistment office. Basic Personality Traits:Stubborn. Determined. Methodical. These are all words which others have used to describe Erich. Erich sees himself as a very intelligent man who is not prone to making rash decisions.
