It's ludicrous to argue that the name of the system determines who controls it. The name of a system is given by the person or corporation who discovered the system first.

What's cold and icy and is near the US? I think that description fits the canadian systems quite well.

Modeling it on the real world?

And the name does play a role, as the name references the party for which it was named after, and which discovered it.

I say they should go to Gallia, since Canada was introduced by the French.

right?

I love how this is my new hangout...

Yes and no is the answer to your statement. The first Europeans to settle and begin charting the country were French, and as such there was and remains a signifigant French population. Though as it stands, and has stood for an extended amount of time now that the majority population is Anglo-Canadian. That would be primarily English and other similar ethnic groups.

The country was fought over between France and England, England being the victor. Quebec was then transfered to English crown rule in exchange for certain freedoms. Pockets remain throughout the country but the majority now reside in the Quebecois population, or Quebecker depending on your choice of words. They're the minority in comparison to the English speaking country.

The fur trade was a significan event in our history as well, it was what can be esentially described as a war between France and England for economic dominance in the new world. France again lost. If they had won the landscape would be very different today.

So handing off the Canadian systems to Gallia would be like handing off Canada to France.

It would be make sense to split the two, considering how each had their own reign over the country.

Only prob is that the Quebec system is currently liberty territory and that gallians have never been out from gallia appart from a few junkers and some council members. And let say it like this, in real life, while the France had a huge part to do with the colonization of Canada, the british took control of the territory and if the french did not colonized that place, the british would have colonized it.

Ug ... geographically, Canada is closest to the US ... Canada, the US and Mexico comprise the North American continent. Heck, while we're on the subject ... why don't we make Outcasts and Corsairs part of the Americas (Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, etc etc)? Same logic, right?

I suppose you're going to kick the Junkers out of Pureto Rico next huh?

Seriously, you're making a big deal out of a couple of names. How do you know the history of these systems? Who founded them and why? Maybe they were Canadian, maybe they were not. But one thing is certain, whoever discovered them was from Liberty. The systems a currently controled by Liberty, and whether that reflects real life or not, well, screw it.

Honestly... Canadian patriotism is worse than American patriotism. Your freedom or independence is not in question just because some developer decided to give a few systems to Liberty instead of Bretonia 'like they should have'.

On top of that, Bretonia has no claims to these systems anymore. Liberty has been in these systems for a while now and they're not just gonna hand them over. Changing them to Bretonian systems now makes no sense what so ever, we can't just change their ownership and pretend like it never happened either.

Puerto Rico is associated with the states. Canada isn't.

You missed the point though, it wasn't a matter of independence or soveriegnty, it was a matter of our patriotism precluding the majority of the population from moving with the American populations. I'm sorry you don't like that, but that is the reality of our national identity.

Secondly I wasn't suggesting they be aligned to Bretonia, reading helps, I know. I was suggesting they be moved to independent colonial systems in a small alliance. Trading partners and frontier workers. Something to appease both parties and cut down on the work, Liberty has no claim to them as it stands. People could walk in and establish a colony if they wanted to.

But then again, you probably think Canada is a frozen wasteland.
