Quote:The problem I see is that people jump into those big fights without actually roleplaying... but that's
another problem which you didn't mention in this thread.
Agreed i do see alot of people setting themselves up for a real PHAIL battle.
Like 2 unnamed unclassified Unlawfuls jumping into a already existing battle and ending up making the conflict unRP and then having the whole Lawful faction jump in....just because some people don't know that some battles are "No third Party,"
In any case I think i've gotten upset once because the LNS BCs swarmed me i didn't die but the feeling of no way out didn't suit be cause at that time I hadn't made "friends," to help repel the Lawful onslaught.
In a different light BH was pretty insane being chased and gun down was like nothing i've seen before. I will never have a 4 on 1 with any BH ever again or even a 2v1 those guns know how to shoot and makes me respect the players and respect my defeat. XA, XG are similar but there were times when it was just stupid...30 mins with no presentable guns n armour should have been able to kill me quickly BUT BUT BUT thats what I was mentioning about the efficiency of overwhelming the targets come in. See XG are incredible pilots down right ruthless and bold but their skill went out the door when they all were trying to shoot one harden target. Again I present the importance of strategy, If the other two XG would have ceased and let a one on one fight it would have lasted seconds.
Because One pilot is focused on One Target.
when focused the pilots instincts kick in, (Oh he is doing a right turn every half joust, lets make him get nose distance.)
VS
When multiple pilots instincts kick in differently (Fred.John,Dusty: Oh he is doing a right turn every half joust.... Fred: Move in close hit him with missle, John: Nose distance Dusty: Move in close spray the BAS..erm)
-problem when Fred and Dusty make their move they have changed the settings for John. Too move in close is the generic action we do as pilots and again we do a circle of events that drag out and make good pilots look bad.
Solution- ether one of these pilots feel confident about their load out so anyone would be a match for 1v1 battle.
I can explain more but this isn't really the time or place i just want to show an example.

Call us biased then?
Its a matter of perspective I'm afraid...
Some of us actually have fun playing the way things are.
And no, im not a RP-whore... I'm not saying it should be like in real life.
but seriously.... we roleplay real people in that distant, imaginary, ugly future!
And if I'm to play the role of a bounty hunter I expect to fight against odds!
If I'm a trader foolish enough to travel between systems with no support I expect
to run into multiple pirates that certainly shouldn't give me a chance to resist!
My final opinion:It's not fun playing in sandbox mode. ~and certainly not in a multiplayer game
Me (Indi KNF in Chimera), Another offical KNF (Chimera) and a KSP (Wyrm) were in the field in Kyushu with the Famer base in it, fighting two blood dragons. (both dragon VHF's) When, out of the blue, a dragon BATTLESHIP comes. one of the dragon fighters told it to pull back, and wisely, It did. Moreso, I think that people knowing that Caprape/ganking is not fun, especially when the battle is already even.
When I had my rhienland battleship, I let the RM Wraths take care of the Loki's, I even looked on RHA message dumps and some say "RNC_Aachen was present, But instead stayed back and launched fighters!"
Yes, indeed Balthazzar. If you are hopping in a fight in progress you can still ask if it's wanted though by asking your ally or allies if they want help. then both they and the enemy have a chance to respond and make their preferences clear.
I think it is. Sometimes I make armies to kill, and then do it again with my bare hands. [/troll]
In all seriousness, whether this is just a pointless game where people waste time; they don't want to leave the game angry.
If you're leaving a game angry because other players are causing the situation to become unpleasent, then there is a problem with that.
I get angry whenever I'm swarmed in a once fair fight, and I get angry when people begin to throw roleplay out the window, and/or start powerplaying and god moding. Whether you think it's fun for you by acting like a hardass by ganking a fighter with your capital ship, it isn't fun for the person being ganked.
Think about it; you're flying your level 31 Starflea through Zone 21 to perhaps set up an Order character, and then a battleship says "EH WUT, YOU NO ALLOWED TO BE HERE, YOU DIE" and then shoots you. That's how some of us feel when we're ganked, we're pretty displeased at whats happened.
Sometimes I think when people gank others they aren't thinking about the other persons enjoyment. Like you said we're all here to have fun... they see a fight and think 'here's a chance to have some fun' and don't think how the other person would feel about it. I doubt there are actually that many people that gank maliciously with the specific intent of killing other peoples' fun, it's just that they don't think about an engagement before they charge in.
