Quote:Well, that is a good question. What brought me to Freelancer? Up to this day I do not know the true answer to this dilemma. Was it a will of god or just a coincidence?
Well, this is how it happened. It was a sunny day on one of the saturdays. As usual I was smoking loads of crack, drinking Gin and Tonic with sushi and watching my favorite cartoon POKEMON. I decided to step out on a balcony to smoke a cigarette, right after I took a phat hit on my "Devastator", that is how I call my 6FT. bong. Well, you probably realize that I am baking like a school girl on a prom night, I step out, by the way I live on the 10th floor of a building and light up a cigarette. I remember taking a deep toke on the ciggy when I suddenly saw a freakishly big fireball flying through the sky. I screamed from the top of my lungs: "Holly jumping horny monkey on the mountain Everest, what the hell what that?", spit down from the balcony and took another toke. At that point I realized that I was trippin' like the same school girl, but next morning when she woke up amongst a team of football players. So, I take a nother toke and suddenly the same fireball flies across the sky...
-Jesus, I say to myself scratching my manhood, I should really cut down on my recreational activities. And another toke and another big spit down the street level. I take my head up and , sexy looking Monica Lewinski with Brittney, the fireball again. I mutter something to myself along the lines of: "F...k this, i am done, must get some tea..." and walk back inside. Suddenly a phone rang, I picked it up and the question that I heard from my neighbor really put me in a stupor. My friend Jake was asking me what the funk I was doing outside on my balcony for three freaking days? At this point I really didn't know what to say, except that fireball was flying in my mind. I guess the little dingleberry bell rang in my head and I decided to install the good old Freelancer and go explore the unknown universe....
Well, now you know what brought me to Freelancer.
Ves, not cool, super AWESOME.

I was always interested in science fiction so I played the Freelancer Demo to see what it was like and immediately was interested. Not long after completing the campaign I went over to multi player and had people telling me about several mods. When I returned to the game after a while I started with mods like WTS and eventually ended up here.

Jeez I am casting my mind back sometime here. I think it was 2003/4 maybe, I was playing in bands and had built a massive home studio complete with work station computer (A P4 2.8Ghz I think.) I had played a few computer games growing up (I was early 20's at this point) but nothing had really 'sucked me in' yet......YET!
Whilst poking around the net looking for some of these new 'online games' people were talking about. I found one called Freelancer. I fired it up and tried to connect to a server on my 56K dial up modem to a USA host....no love.....so I spent the next 3 months playing single player story mode in the studio until my band mates had an intervention and made me remove all games from the studio workstation. I then entered into a period of my life with no freelancer..........
When World of Warcrack came out I started playing, and playing and playing and then almost lost my career, my wife the respect of all of my friends. I woke up one day and quit and never went back to WoW (or ever will).
Whilst this saw massive improvements in all departments of my life, I still had a void to fill. I found myself wondering about that awesome game I used to play, that was never matched...what was it called again....freebaser.......fulllancer......freelancer!
I started poking around the Web and found some mod called Discovery 4.85, OMFG, the community kept the game going! Needless to say I downloaded it promptly, fired it up and got my 1st sanction. I quit, vowing never to return and that whoever was playing it now had 'ruined' the game.
Then after floating on the sea of today's gaming offerings I loaded up Discovery FL again, this time I actually read the rules...now I am here to stay....
Hahahaha, PostMasterGeneral, looks like I am following your footsteps. I recently installed this mod again, after not playinf for god knows how many years. First time on this server I think. So, I already had my first sanction and my first ban. Right now I am going through the newbie-I-battle-all syndrome. I think the first on-line experience was on Hamburg Server.
