We agree with that one. But it goes 2-ways you know? Those 2 people accepting that those 15 people ganking them should have fun as well instead of being left out at the expense of only 2 people.
You say we use similar arguments? I say we just elaborate your's.
If you don't want my opinion then just say so. I know exactly what you're trying to say
and I don't fully agree with it, simple as that.
Edit: I've gone off-track a bit... the main reason I joined this conversation is because I think you're trying to fix the wrong things. Ganking isn't an issue. Its behaving like an idiot going for the blue message instead of a roleplay opportunity.
2 very simple rules I like to use for myself to avoid ganking someone:
1: if I were the enemy, how would I feel if that dude (being me) joined in?
2: don`t do things to other players that you don`t want to have happening to yourself.
main problem is bloodlust and people with egos that won`t let them take defeat.
newsflash: IT IS A GAME. don`t just play it for the blue messages.
If you get frustrated, just log off, cool down. do yourself and other players a favor.
I know from myself that when I lose a fight in a pathetic matter (for example being suckerpunched while rp-ing, ganked or (un)dock killed) I tend to get annoyed because my bloody ego hates losing in such a fashion. do I start breaking rules? do I send my BS after the dude who killed me? no. self control boys and girls. that is very import. poo happens. swallow it and log off or load a pure RP fun character, like a mad scientist or whatever. (those tend to brighten your mood)

CR against the Outcasts.
When i arrived in my Cruiser there were a few OC fighters/Bombers and CRs no capships then. Well i started to attack the base, and the BS was only watching until the first CR battleship arrived. I and the BS started attacking it and almost killed it until the OC BS suddenly died. And i got killed in my Cruiser by about 2 Battleships and a few more Caps. I was laughing though, because i died so quickly. But still, kinda unfair to get that what you didnt do before.
In total, there were two Outcast battleships and a destroyer in that battle. In total, there were 2 Zephyrs on our side. Ask any balancer, that the former outweighs the latter. It was just tactics that got us out.
I get a call, there's an Outcast battleship and a dessie at Java. I get in the Rubicon. Panzer gets in the Nemesis. What's wrong with that I do not know.
And um sorry, don't wanna seem like I'm bickering, but I just gotta clear stuff up when I see something wrong.

Since I started pirating several incidents similar to yours have happened. I'm not going to talk about the second one, but the first one involved me in my Pirate Transport.
Just logged on, hoped to get some taxing in before I went on CS:S or my trader. Went to my usual spot, and after about 30 seconds an Orca Gunboat shows up. I wouldn't be able to beat it anyway. So I start with my charming skills and give some good role-play, then the gunboat says "You can't kill all of us." Perfectly timed, because then three other ships show up, two lawful and one another bounty hunter. So total so far, 1 Gunboat, 2 fighters and a bomber against a Pirate Transport. Using common sense I tried to cruise away, they all had cruise disruptors at the ready. So I try and fight, swerving and shooting those ones who don't bother to dodge because they don't think i'm after them. Then another fighter comes. This guy sees absolutely no problem and joins in. Hmmm... I died, lost 4 hours worth of pirating, basicly my entire day on the computer wasted because most of my characters are now pirates who use the area.
So, I see what you mean (although your ones sounded worse).
Edit: I don't want to sound like i'm bitching, just saying what happened is all.
[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3
[18:17:36] Metano: I love you tomtom
[20:06:24] Warspite: I will seriously give you epic head.

The inverse is also true.
Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that everyone dislikes it.
Also, like I put forward earlier: 'Fair fights' can generate poor RP as much as ganking. When a fight looks fair, you don't get people acting desperate and attempting to flee, bribe or surrender. You get people wanting kills just as much.
I would then put it to you that 'fair fights' aren't always fair. You yourself are a rather experienced player. I would hazard a guess that, generally, you would rate as a good pilot, one that wins the majority of fights he gets into.
Now... if you are able to win the majority of fair fights you get into, how is that truly fair? Any smart opponent wouldn't fight fair. It's unfair to expect an inferior opponent to fight with equivalent forces.

Now that is a good point. I'm sometimes stuck in a fight where the person i'm fighting is much more skilled than me, and sometimes if I have the option I do call for backup. Although the advantage of having two seperate entities fighting one outweighs most peoples skills.

Fair... I don't like fair fights all the time. It ticks me off.
What I do like are fights where you have a chance.
Fairness here is;
4 fighters vs 2 fighters. The two fighters have a chance to win, just not a high one. But its there.
Unfairness here is;
3 gunboats and 1 fighter vs 2 fighters. Do the two lone fighters have a chance to win? No. They must run. Some people like to run, others like not to waste their time doing so.
Situations which are plausible and yet the other side still has a chance to inflict some damage.
Not situations where the forces entering battle are carefully matched in number and skill, or where the opposing side cannot win.
To give the opposing side a chance to win takes either a change in balance or a change in mindset.
Who here wants 4.83 novas?
No?
Then a change in mindset it is.

Note that you're in the [IG], which sends destroyers after lone gunboats, which, of course, don't stand a chance.
It seems that people often only care about both sides having a chance if they're on the weaker side.
