Bad bad pirates forcing people to swear and break rules.

There are always 2 people in any conflict. Sometimes, the fault really is on one players side (traders refusing to RP, pirates demanding unreasonable things), and sometimes both partys have an equal measure of fault for a situation going horribly wrong.

The main problem with pirate-trader relations is that basically that the pirate can do what he wants - the trader never ever has any chance of interacting with the pirate as if he had any real options other than to comply with the pirate... one of my most stupid moments in this game was when a pirate destroyed me even though under fire by 2 other players in battleships... I had no cargo and refused to pay 5 million, making a run when 2 battlesips dropped out of the disrupted trade lane, helping me.:D

If pirates - and I mean all of them - do not show some self discipline and restrainment when interacting with other players, there will always be traders out there who will have no interest in proper interaction with them.

I am not saying there are no lolwuts among traders. I am just suggesting that there would be less of them if both sides worked on doing proper RP with each other, always keeping in mind that the fun of the player behind the character is more important than strict adherence to (virtual-) character behavior.

Personally I look for good RP and give every other player the option to engage in good RP when facing me. If someone uses F1 to avoid RP, I am going to report him.

I could never fault someone for F1ing after "4 mill or die!" demands though.

My observations and personal experience is that no/low demand=good RP, high demand=no RP.

Proper piracy with good RP is an oxymoron.

I found a new sport to play. It's called "SNAC the Cheetah Thruster off that greedy transport". It's really fun, you spot a high ranked full of cash trader that refuses to pay you and you blow up his thruster and force him to dock, effectively making him lose 20 million or so. (Correct me if wrong on the Cheetah price)

It's really fun. It's like "Shoot his turrets off", but on the next level.

Now that says it all.
I find that some will pirate with 1 ship, maybe a buddie, and they set a price when they scan you.fair enough.
Whats interesting is when you get stopped by 1,start to rp,then the rats come out of the woodwork 1 or 2 at a time, all saying the same thing "gimme 3 mill or die",or " do you need help blowing the trader up?" ,or " assisting (insert pirates name here),engaging".

THAT is the kind of mentality that this server needs to stomp out right when it happens.

Its always a good cat and mouse chase between a pirate and a trader, when the pirate is willing to rp,but sadly, the quality of people playing most pirates is sorely lacking.

There are MANY traders who wont roleplay properly. Its not just the pirates that screw this up, however, they are in the strong position, thus making it hugely dependable how the trader will react in the near future to pirates... 2 or 3 lolwut "3 mill or die" pirates that destroy you even after paying will result in a trader who is not going to try and RP with other pirates in the near future.

There are times on this server with certain groups of pirates I came to know that simply result in me switching to another character when using my trader and blowing some NPCs up with my BS - because interaction with those people will ALWAYS result in me being destroyed. Having 6 bombers/heavy fighters swarming around a tradeship, demanding 3 mill for each of them will result in much, but never a friendly word or proper roleplay. And that and similar behavior is why so many traders do not want to interact with pirates.

Wait, I have an idea:

If a trader gets killed, he'll respawn with a Pirate ID. Rephack and everything. How's that?
